Live the Christian Life by having a Walk Worthy of God’s Calling in our Daily Living

Look therefore carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise. Eph. 5:15

As believers in Christ, we need to have a walk worthily of the calling with which we were called by God; according to Ephesians 4-5 there are four main items of a walk worthy of God’s calling, ending with being filled in spirit. Amen!

The first item of a walk worthy of God’s calling is to be diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace with the transformed human virtues.

This is seen in Eph. 4:1-4, where we have not only the oneness but also the human virtues which have been uplifted and resurrected, even strengthened by and with the divine attributes.

As believers in Christ, we need to be those who live in our mingled spirit, that is, live according to the Spirit and do all things one with the Lord.

When we are one with the Lord in our spirit, we live Christ, and what is expressed is not our human virtues but the transformed and uplifted human virtues of Jesus Christ who lives in us.

There is another person living in us. Jesus Christ, the first God-man who expressed the bountiful God in His rich attributes through His aromatic human virtues, lives in us.

His humanity is in our spirit, for He has added it into the Spirit, whom He became. Praise the Lord!

The Lord Jesus is the only One who is pleasing to the Father; His life, living, and work are fully satisfying for the Father.

This One set up a pattern of living a God-man life, and He has become the Spirit to come into our spirit and mingle Himself with us to live the same kind of life in us today. Praise the Lord!

The Lord is the Spirit; this Spirit is a compound of God, man, divinity, humanity, and all the uplifted and transformed human virtues of Jesus.

When we call on the name of the Lord and feed upon Him, we enjoy not only a bountiful supply for us to live the Christian life but even more, we partake of Christ as man.

When we eat the Lord and drink Him, we will enjoy what He is in His humanity, and all the virtues of His uplifted humanity will be ours. Praise the Lord.

Such a One is everything to us for us to live a proper Christian life and have a walk worthy of God’s calling.

When we have the transformed human virtues and live them out, we will keep the oneness of the Spirit as the reality of the Body of Christ. Praise the Lord!

This is the first item of a walk worthy of God’s calling.

Having a Walk Worthy of God’s Calling by Growing up into Christ the Head in All Things

But holding to truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, Christ, Out from whom all the Body, being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and [through] the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love. Eph. 4:15-16Eph. 4:15-16 shows us the second item of a walk worthy of God’s calling: it is to grow up into Christ the Head in all things.

Christ is the Head, out from whom all the Body grows into the Head. Amen!

When we hold the Head and receive what comes out from the Head, we will grow up into Christ the Head in all things.

We grow up into the Head for our existence, for our essential being; then, we function out from the Head for the building up of the Body.

As we grow into the Head, we are being joined and knit together with the other members of the Body.

We function in our measure, and we together cause the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.

We need all the members of the Body and we also need the joints of the rich supply; we need the operation in the measure of each one part.

We all are parts of the Body, and when each part is operating and the joints of the rich supply are supplying, this will cause the growth of the Body, resulting in the building up of the Body in love.

In order for us to grow up into Christ in all things for the building up of His Body, we need to enjoy Christ as our all-inclusive, universal replacement for the producing of the one new man, so we must hear Him and see Jesus only (Mark 9:7-8).

The Father wants us to hear Christ and see Christ only, having no replacements for Christ.

We may treasure this or that, and we may uplift someone or something in God’s word apart from Christ, but God wants us to see Christ and hear Christ only.

Whatever or whoever is not Christ, God “fires”; God has replaced everything in His Old Testament economy with Christ (1:1-8; Matt. 17:3-5; Col. 2:16-17; Heb. 10:5-10; 11:5-6; cf. Isa. 22:20-25).

Everything in the Old Testament economy has been replaced with Christ, who is the reality of all the positive things in God’s economy.

Even we today, God doesn’t hire us – He fires us, He replaces us with Christ, and when Christ reconstitutes our being, He “hires” us again to fulfill His purpose.

In Isa. 22:20-25 we see how God fired Shebna and hired Eliakim to be a steward in God’s house.

God fires our self, our natural man, and our old man, and He hires Christ, the One who is qualified to be a steward in God’s house.

And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with Him. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You are willing, I will make three tents here, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah. While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have found My delight. Hear Him! Matt. 17:3-5This means that we need to deny the self, lose our soul-life, and remain on the cross so that our old man may be crucified with Christ.

Praise the Lord, our self was fired on the cross, for we were crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20).

Our old man, our natural man, and our self have been fired by God. Christ is the only One qualified to be everything in God’s economy, so when we’re holding Christ, being filled and saturated with Christ, and live Christ, we are hired by God.

When God created us, He “hired” us; when He put us on the cross, crucifying us with Christ, He “fired” us.

Then, when He resurrected us together with Christ, He “re-hired” us by making us a new species of God-men, a new invention of God as His corporate masterpiece (Gen. 1:26; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 2:6, 10, 15; Isa. 43:7).

Hallelujah, we are now being brought back to God’s original intention of creating us for His glory, His corporate expression!

May we grow up into Christ the Head in all things so that we may have a walk worthy of God’s calling!

Lord Jesus, we want to have a walk worthy of God’s calling by growing up into Christ the Head in all things. Amen, Lord, we love You and we take You as our everything. We want to enjoy You as our all-inclusive, universal replacement for the producing of the one new man. May we hear Jesus and see Jesus only in all things! Amen, Lord, come in and fill us with Yourself, even replace us with Yourself in all our being. Praise the Lord, when God created us, He “hired” us, and when He put us on the cross to crucify us with Christ, He “fired” us! Hallelujah, when God resurrected us together with Christ, He “rehired” us by making us a new species of God-men! Amen, Lord, we are a new invention of God as His corporate masterpiece, the church as the Body of Christ and the one new man! May we see God’s intention, return to His original intention of creating us for His glory, and grow up into Christ the Head in all things so that we may have a walk worthy of God’s calling!

Having a Walk Worthy of God’s Calling by Learning Christ as the Reality that is in Jesus

But you did not so learn Christ, If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him as the reality is in Jesus. Eph. 4:20-21

In Eph. 4:20-21 we have the third item of having a walk worthy of God’s calling: learning Christ as the reality that is in Jesus.

When we believed into the Lord Jesus, God put us in Christ; He is the mold into which we have been put, and now we are learning Christ in an organic, intimate, personal way day by day, so that His life is duplicated and lived out in us.

The reality in Jesus is the actual condition of the life of Jesus as recorded in the four Gospels.

In the Gospels we see that the Lord Jesus lived a life in which He did everything in God, with God, and for God; God was in His living, and He was one with God.

Such a living is now being duplicated in us today as believers in Christ, for we are learning to have a walk worthy of God’s calling by learning Christ as the reality is in Jesus. What a reality this is!

Today everyone does things for themselves, in themselves, and by themselves, but here is One, Jesus Christ who lives in us and into whom we have been placed, who lives in God, with God, and for God!

In the Lord’s life on the earth He set up a pattern, as revealed in the four Gospels; then, He was crucified and resurrected to become the life-giving Spirit so that He might enter into us to be our life (1 Cor. 15:45; Col. 3:4). Wow, Hallelujah!

Now we learn from Christ, according to His example, not by our natural life but by Him as our life in resurrection.

We are learning from the Lord not by outwardly imitating Him to do what He did as we see in the Gospels; we learn from Him by learning Christ, the Person, as the reality is in Jesus.

How do we learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus?

It is by loving the Lord, contacting Him, and praying to Him; when we do this, we automatically live Him according to the mold, the form, the pattern described in the Gospels (Matt. 11:29; Rom. 8:29).

As we contact the Lord, love Him, enjoy Him, and fellowship with Him, we learn from the Lord, and we are shaped and conformed to the image of Christ; this is what it means to learn Christ.

We don’t learn about Christ nor do we imitate Christ by thinking what would Jesus do in this situation; we learn Christ Himself, the person, by enjoying Him.

He has come into us, He lives in us, and we are one with Him. He is our life and our life supply.

We learn to contact Him daily, fellowship with Him, and open to Him concerning all things.

As we do this, we are learning Christ as the reality is in Jesus, and we have a walk worthy of God’s calling.

Such a walk is not deliberate, by our trying and striving, but automatic and spontaneous, by our contacting the Lord and organically enjoying Him and experiencing Him.

May we daily learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus!

Lord Jesus, we want to have a walk worthy of God’s calling by learning Christ as the reality is in Jesus. Amen, Lord, we want to learn from You and learn You, for reality is in Jesus. We come to You in Your word to fellowship with You and enjoy You. We just love You, Lord, and we want to abide in You, remain in You, and be conformed to Your image today. May we live the same kind of life that You lived while on the earth. We want to learn from You according to Your example not by our natural life but by You as our life in resurrection. Oh Lord Jesus, we love You! We come to contact You daily, and we pray to You to live You according to the pattern described in the Gospels! May we be shaped and conformed to the image of Christ so that we may live Christ, thus having a walk worthy of God’s calling!

Having a Walk Worthy of God’s Calling by Living in Love and Light

And walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor. Eph. 5:2 For you were once darkness but are now light in the Lord; walk as children of light. Eph. 5:8In Eph. 5:2 and 8 we see that, in order for us to have a walk worthy of God’s calling, we need to live in love and light.

We were once darkness but now we are light in the light; therefore, we walk as children of light.

We need to be partakers, enjoyers of the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4).

The divine nature is what God is in His nature – He is Spirit (John 4:24), He is love (1 John 4:8, 16), and He is light (1:5).

Spirit is the nature of God’s person. Love is the nature of God’s essence. Light is the nature of God’s expression.

We need to enjoy and partake of the divine nature which is in our spirit.

By our birth of God, by being reborn of God with His life, we have received the divine nature, and now the divine nature is in our spirit.

We need to be enjoyers of the divine nature by exercising our spirit to worship God in spirit and in truthfulness.

We enjoy the divine nature by living in love and light, partaking of God as love and light to live Him out.

Praise the Lord, we are in the fellowship of the divine life, and God as love and light flows in us!

We all need to spend an adequate amount of personal time with the Lord to privately fellowship with Him in our spirit so that we can be filled with His loving essence (John 4:24; Luke 15:20; Matt. 5:15-16).

When we spend time with the Lord in an adequate way, not rushing our time with Him but lingering in His presence so that He may fill us, we will enjoy and partake of His loving essence.

This will enable us to shepherd others, for He in us will shepherd others.

Furthermore, we will be filled with His shining element so that others may see Him in us! Praise the Lord!

The key to having such a wonderful living in love and light is spending time with the Lord to be filled with Him and to live Him out.

We don’t have to try to be children of light walking in the light, neither do we need to strive to love others with a love that is of ourselves.

Rather, we need to spend adequate amount of time with the Lord so that He may fill us with Himself as love and shine Himself into us.

The result will be that the Lord will shepherd others through us, for we will be filled with His loving essence, and He will be expressed through us, for He will shine in us and through us to others also. Praise the Lord!

May we all privately fellowship with the Lord in our spirit and allow Him to fill us with Himself.

May we open our being to Him so that He can shine on us and in us, and also that He will shine through us.

When He fills us inwardly, He will have a way to be expressed through us, and we will have a walk worthy of God’s calling.

Lord Jesus, we want to walk worthy of God’s calling by living in love and light. Praise the Lord, we are partakers of the divine nature! We exercise our spirit, Lord, to partake of and enjoy the divine nature. Hallelujah, God is Spirit, God is love, and God is light! Amen, Lord, we come to You and we want to spend an adequate amount of personal time with You. Keep us in Your presence. Fill us with Yourself. We want to privately fellowship with You in our spirit so that we can be filled with Your loving essence. Fill us with Yourself as love and light. Dispense Your loving essence into us and shine on us and in us! Amen, Lord, fill us with Yourself as love and light to such an extent that we can shepherd others with Your love and express You to others! May Your shining element fill us for others to see You in us! May Your loving essence fill us so that You may have a way to shepherd others through us in love!

Having a Walk Worthy of God’s Calling by Being Filled in Spirit to Overflow with Christ

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled in spirit, Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and psalming with your heart to the Lord, Giving thanks at all times for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [our] God and Father, Being subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Eph. 5:18-21The fifth item of having a walk worthy of God’s calling is for us to live by being filled in spirit to overflow Christ with others, as seen in Eph. 5:18.

If we practice and live out the first four items, keeping the oneness of the Spirit, growing in Christ the Head in all things, learning Christ as the reality is in Jesus, and living in love and light, we will spontaneously be filled in spirit and we will overflow with Christ to others. Amen!

We need to open to the Lord and open our spirit to Him, dealing with any obstacle or barrier between us and Him, so that we may be filled in spirit.

We need to come to the Lord and ask Him to fill us in spirit.

The outflow of being filled in spirit is speaking, psalming, giving thanks to God, and subjecting ourselves to one another in the fear of the Lord (vv. 19-21).

Also, the way to be filled in spirit is by speaking to one another, singing in spirit, psalming, giving thanks to the Lord, and subjecting ourselves to one another in the fear of Christ. Hallelujah!

Eph. 5:18 says, Be filled in spirit. How are we filled in spirit?

It is by speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and psalming with our heart to the Lord, and giving thanks at all times in all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ through our God and Father, and being subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

This is how we are filled, and this is also who flow Him out.

We need to practice this in our daily life.

We need to practice singing, calling on the Lord, speaking to one another with hymns and spiritual songs.

We need to practice thanking the Lord all the time and for all things.

Many times we thank the Lord for the good things, but if something happens and we don’t like it, we don’t thank the Lord for that thing.

We may purchase a new item and we may enjoy using it very much, and we may be thankful to the Lord for that.

But when something happens to that item to either damage it or we lose it, do we still thank the Lord? Oh Lord Jesus!

In all things and for all things, even at all times, we need to thank the Lord.

Day by day we need to practice being filled in spirit.

To be filled in spirit is to be filled with the riches of Christ to become the fullness of Christ, the overflow of Christ! Amen!

We do this by calling on the name of the Lord and by pray-reading His word so that we can continually receive Him as grace upon grace to become His fullness, His overflow (3:8; 1:23; 3:19b; Rom. 10:12-13; Eph. 6:17-18; John 1:16).

Amen, may we seek to be filled in spirit at all times so that we may have a walk worthy of God’s calling!

Lord Jesus, we want to have a walk worthy of God’s calling by being filled in spirit to overflow with Christ! Amen, Lord, fill us in spirit! Fill us with Yourself as the Spirit in our spirit! We exercise our spirit to speak the Lord and His word into others, sing, and psalm with our heart to the Lord. Amen, Lord, we want to be filled in spirit and live by being filled in spirit to overflow with Christ! Thank You, Lord, for all things. Thank You for the good things and also thank You for the things we don’t agree with or are not so good. We want to practice speaking, singing, psalming, giving thanks to God, and subjecting ourselves to one another in the fear of Christ so that we may be filled in spirit! Fill us with all Your riches to make us the fullness of Christ, the overflow of Christ! Oh Lord Jesus, we call on Your name and we pray-read Your word so that we can continually receive You as grace upon grace to become Your fullness, Your overflow!

To be filled in spirit (v. 18) is to be filled in our regenerated spirit, the human spirit indwelt by the Spirit of God. Our spirit should not be empty but should be filled with the riches of Christ unto all the fullness of God (3:19). All the items in 5:18—6:9 are related to the one matter of being filled in spirit.

Many readers of this chapter pay attention to such details as wives submitting to their own husbands or husbands loving their wives, but they fail to see the source of all these virtues, that is, being filled in spirit. When we are filled in our spirit with Christ unto all the fullness of God, then wives will be subject to their husbands, husbands will love their wives, parents will care for their children, slaves will obey their masters, and masters will treat their slaves in a proper way.

All these things are the issue of being filled in spirit. Living by being filled in spirit is the fifth aspect of a walk worthy of God’s calling. The first aspect is the keeping of the oneness. This is for the Body life, the church life. The second aspect is the growing up into Christ the Head in all things. This is for the building.

Following this, we learn Christ by being placed into the mold, the standard of a living according to the reality in Jesus. We Christians have a high standard with an uplifted principle to govern our daily walk. To learn Christ is to take Him as the standard and to take His life as the principle. Fourth, a life worthy of God’s calling is a life in love and in light. We must live not only according to reality (truth) and by grace but also in light and in love. We need to be those who live in intimacy with God and walk in His presence. Our daily life must be altogether according to God’s heart and in His presence. If we have these four aspects of a worthy walk, we will spontaneously be filled in our spirit.

For us to have a walk worthy of God’s calling we need to keep the oneness of the Spirit, grow up into Christ the head in all things, learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus, live in love and light, and be filled in spirit to overflow with Christ.

All these are possible as we spend an adequate amount of time to fellowship with the Lord to be filled with Him, and then overflow Him to others.

Lord Jesus, we want to contact You daily in a personal and intimate way to be filled with You and walk worthily of God’s calling. Live in us today. Fill us in spirit. Overflow through us!

In Ephesians 3 we see we need to be filled with the riches of Christ unto the fullness of God!

Then in Ephesians 4 the first requirement to have a walk worthy of God’s calling is to keep the Oneness of the Spirit!

Be filled in Spirit, keep the oneness of the Spirit – with all lowliness and meekness, these two virtues deal with ourselves, with long-suffering, this virtue is toward others, bearing one another in love!

These virtues are not found in our natural humanity but are in the humanity of Jesus!

Oh Lord transform us! We need to be filled and we need to be transformed to keep the oneness of the Spirit! Amen Lord! Do it in us!!

To walk worthily of our calling we must keep the oneness of the Spirit, grow up into Christ the Head in all things, learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus, and walk in love and light.

However, for all this we need to be filled in spirit by speaking, singing and being subject to one another.

When we are filled in spirit, by contacting the Lord and pray reading His word we will express Christ in doing everything in God and with God for His economy!

Amen. Lord, cause to spend an adequate time in your presence so that we may be filled with You to live in us daily!

Hallelujah for the first four aspects of a walk worthy of God’s calling.

Without the revelation of these 4 aspects, we would really struggle to meet God’s standard.

May we devote ourselves to the keeping of the oneness, to growing into Christ as the Head, to learning Christ, and to living in love & light.

When we are faithful to practice these 4 aspects, we will spontaneously be filled in spirit with the riches of Christ.

O Lord! Save us from being distracted & captured by empty deceits, philosophies & ideologies. Keep us in the central lane of Your economy. Amen! Keep us always in a personal & intimate way with You, Lord.

To be drunk with wine is to be filled in the body, whereas to be filled in the spirit (our regenerated spirit, not God’s Spirit) is to be filled with Christ (Eph. 1:23) unto the fullness of God (Eph. 3:19). To be drunk with wine in our physical body causes us to become dissolute, but to be filled in our spirit with Christ, with the fullness of God, causes us to overflow with Christ in speaking, singing, psalming, and giving thanks to God (vv. 19-20) and also causes us to subject ourselves to one another (v. 21).

Ameen!!!

Praise the Lord brother that we can walk not as unwise but as wise to walk worthily of God’s calling.

For this we need to live by being filled in spirit to overflow with Christ.

To be filled in spirit is to be filled with the riches of Christ to become the fullness of Christ, the overflow of Christ.

This is the result of our keeping the oneness of the Spirit, of our growing up into the Head, of learning Christ as the reality is in Him, and of walking in love according to God and in the light in His presence.

Oh Lord Jesus we turn our heart to You today and exercise our spirit into flame. May we be those who are according to the spirit and mind the things of the Spirit.

Oh Lord keep us calling on Your name and pray-reading Your Word. May we continually receive Him as grace upon grace to become His fullness, His overflow. Ameeen!!!

“We learn Christ, Himself, the person, by enjoying Him.”

When I was first saved in the Church, 30 odd years ago, I remember people asking, “How have you enjoyed the Lord today?”

I remember thinking how strange, how odd this was, to enjoy the Lord. At that time I only had a limited understanding… believing that perhaps the Lord could assist in my enjoyment of others or other things, but I had no reality about enjoying Him, the man, the person of Christ.

Praise the Lord for His patience and long suffering on my behalf. It took some time, but I have come to see that not only can we/I enjoy this Christ, but that everything hinges on that.

For how can I live in my/His Spirit, if I do not enjoy Him? How can I fellowship with Him, love Him and His company, even introduce Him to others, if I do not enjoy Him? How can I expect to be His bride, if I do not enjoy Him?

Saints, enjoying Him is the key that unlocks favor, love, understanding,
assurance and familiarity with our wonderful Lord and Savior, creator of the Universe, the all knowing, all powerful, all present lover of our soul.

Love Him by enjoying Him. Laugh with Him. Talk with Him. Walk with Him. Cry with Him. Do all things with this wonderful One and ENJOY!
