Let’s pray for the saints to labor and endeavor consistently and persistently, not expecting quick results

Whom [Christ] we announce, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man full-grown in Christ; for which also I labor, struggling according to His operation which operates in me in power. Col. 1:28-29

Dear saints, let us pray that, according to the divine operation in them, the saints would take the way of laboring and endeavoring consistently and persistently, undeterred by obstacles, not disappointed by setbacks, and not expecting quick results (Col. 1:28-29 and note 281; Acts 20:20, 31; Eph. 4:11-13).

Whatever way you take, you should do it persistently with patience and endurance and not expecting to have a quick reaping. All the farmers know that they cannot have a quick reaping. A quick reaping means a poor reaping. The farmers have to be patient to care for their crop until the time for harvest comes. After a period of time, you will gain some new ones as remaining fruit. This will be a recompense to your persistent labor in the gospel. (Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1993, vol. 2, “The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups,” ch. 3, p. 291)

Our hope is in the coming Christ with His glory, and it is also in the reward of the coming kingdom. The endurance of hope is the long life of our work of faith. Through such an endurance we can subdue all kinds of disappointments, discouragements, and impossibilities, and we can also overcome all kinds of oppositions, obstacles, and frustrations. Such an endurance consummates in gaining sinners, feeding the believers, perfecting the saints, and building up the church, the Body of Christ, for the kingdom of God and of Christ.
