Let us pray for the saints to have a definite time and way to worship the Father and to reserve an adequate amount of time for their worship

Saying, “I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the church I will sing hymns of praise to You.” Heb. 2:12

Dear saints, let us pray that, as the regenerated children of God, the saints would have a definite time and way to worship the Father, the time being after the remembrance of the Lord at the Lord’s table, and the way being to worship the Father under the leadership of Christ as their older Brother (Heb. 2:12 and note 123; Matt. 26:26-30 and note 301; Hymns, #50, ss. 1, 4).

Hymns, #50, ss. 1, 4:

Father, Thy Son beloved leads our praise
After the banquet feast is had and done;
How dear, how sweet to Thee the praise He leads,
And in His praises joining we are one.

Father, by joining with Thy Son beloved,
We all with gladness praise Thee now again;
Joyfully feasting on Thy holy love,
Tasting, as sons, the sweetness of Thy name.

Because the Lord redeemed us, we need to have a definite time and way to remember the Lord. This definite time is at the Lord’s table meeting, and the way we remember Him is by eating the bread and drinking the cup. However, because we are the regenerated children of God, we also need to have a definite time and way to worship the Father. The definite time for the worship of the Father is after our remembrance of the Lord at the Lord’s table, and the way for us to worship Him is to worship under the leadership of Christ as our older Brother. This is what Hebrews 2, Psalm 22, and Matthew 26 indicate. If we do this, our worship at the Lord’s table will be complete.

An adequate amount of time should be reserved for the worship of the Father…If we spend too much time passing the bread and the cup, there will not be sufficient time for the worship of the Father. (Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1964, vol. 3, “Basic Principles for the Church Meetings,” ch. 5)
