This is such a crucial truth seen everywhere in the Bible! In His resurrection Christ as the last Adam became the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45)!
God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ, lived a perfect human life on earth (in which He expressed God, even though He was persecuted, criticized, and was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief), and died an all-inclusive death on the cross (He died a vicarious death for us, by His bruise we have been healed, He shed His blood for us, His blood redeemed us and brought us into the Holy of Holies – His death was so rich and all-inclusive).
After His death on the cross, Christ was put in a tomb for three days – and on the third day, as prophesied by the Old Testament prophets, He was raised! In His resurrection He accomplished many things – He had a rich resurrection!
In His resurrection, Christ became the life-giving Spirit, He was begotten as the Firstborn Son of God, He regenerated the believers for His Body, He was the firstborn of the dead, He became the Head of the Body, He as the grain of wheat produced many grains to be His increase and multiplication, and He obtained the preeminence over all things in the heavens and on the earth!
Out of all these accomplishments of Christ in the stage of His resurrection, today I was encouraged about the fact that Christ became the life-giving Spirit! This is such a great truth that is being recovered today – that the God-man Jesus became a life-giving Spirit to dispense, impart, and infuse life into us all the time! 1 Cor. 15:45 says,
So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul”; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
Just as Adam became a living soul, Christ in His resurrection was transfigured and glorified to become a life-giving Spirit! No one else ever had been “pneumatized” to become “spirit” – Christ in His resurrection was changed in form to be not just a physical being but a “spiritually physical” being! Wow!
After His resurrection the Lord came back to His disciples as the Spirit – not to teach them only, but to breathe Himself into them as the Spirit(John 20:19-22)! He is now like the air – pneuma (spirit) also has the meaning of air – being available to us wherever we are!
Why did Christ become the life-giving Spirit? As the Spirit, He can enter into man to impart the divine life into man! Christ became a life-giving Spirit for the purpose of the propagation, for the producing, for the spreading, of the Triune God in man – through life-imparting!
Now Christ as the life-giving Spirit goes along with the believers when they speak the gospel and He enters into man to regenerate man and impart the divine life into the ones who believe!
Even more, after we believe, the life-giving Spirit operates in us to impart life to all the parts of our being – He made our spirit life (Rom. 8:10), He is making our soul life (Rom. 8:6), and eventually He will impart life to our mortal body (Rom. 8:11) to fill our whole being with the divine life!
There is so much to say about Christ becoming the life-giving Spirit – and He as such a One has been and is operating in mankind for the past two thousand years! Now this Christ as the life-giving Spirit can be received and enjoyed by all the human beings who open to Him and call, O Lord Jesus!
Just open to Him, call on His name, and He will come in to impart life to your whole being! This life – the divine life – is the real life! When you receive the divine life you become a son of God and a member of the Body of Christ!
This life grows in us, fills us, and eventually makes us beings of life – filled with the divine life! This life is so rich and so flowing that will overflow from us to the others to reach everyone around us – and give them life! Christ as the life-giving Spirit mingles Himself with our spirit and flows in and out of our being to impart life to us and to those around us!
Wow, what a rich produce of Christ’s resurrection – Christ became the life-giving Spirit!

Thank You Lord for becoming the life-giving Spirit! Now the Lord is the Spirit! We can breathe You in! We can receive You and we can receive life – more life, more divine life! Lord, gain our cooperation with Your life-impartation! Impart more life into our soul and into our body! Fill us with Your life! Make us beings of life – persons full of the divine life! Lord, even “life” us! Keep us enjoying You, opening to You, and receiving Your life-imparting all the time! Praise You Lord for becoming the life-giving Spirit!
Last night, the scripture from Psalm 2 came to mind, “this day I have begotten you,” which caused me to ask what day that was. Today I came across this article. Have you also thought of the role of His Ascension? Not until He ascended into the Presence of the Father could the Holy Spirit be sent to us. Truly there is a progression of the Union of God and Man in Jesus….
