Fight the Good Fight against Satan and his Kingdom of Darkness and Walk in the Light

For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful before God for the overthrowing of strongholds. 2 Cor. 10:4

As believers in Christ, we are fighting the good fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness by overthrowing reasonings and every high thing rising up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive man’s thought unto the obedience of Christ.

On the positive side, we fight the good fight of the faith by laying hold on the eternal life.

On the negative side, we have an enemy, and we stand one with the Lord and in the Body to fight against the enemy and his kingdom of darkness.

In this age of the degradation of the church, we all need to realize that the enemy has a lot of subtle works to not only wear out the saints of the Most High but also lead them away from the faith.

There are so many teachings in Christianity today, and there are so many so-called “ministries”, denominations, free groups, sects, “churches” and so on.

It’s almost as if someone receives some light from the Lord in His word, and now he starts his own thing, his own group, his own ministry, and his own work. Oh, Lord Jesus!

The enemy comes to the people of God in a subtle way, as a wolf dressed in a sheep’s skin, and he seeks to lure them away from the faith.

We need to return to the pure revelation in God’s word and lay hold on the eternal life. What all believers in Christ have in common is the eternal life; in this life, we are all one.

If we all return to simply taking Christ as life and living Christ, we will all be one.

If we all lay hold on the eternal life and not trust our natural life nor rely on our own understanding, we will be one in the Lord’s life.

The Lord Jesus has given us His life, His name, His word, and even His glory that we may be one (see John 17).

May we exercise our spirit and come to God’s holy word to enjoy Him as life, and may we live by the divine life day by day.

Without the eternal life, without enjoying and living by this eternal life of God, we are nothing.

We are just like the rest of the people in the world, walking aimlessly and doing things according to our own preferences. Oh, Lord.

May we come back again and again to the divine revelation in God’s word, remain in the divine truth in God’s word, and lay hold on the eternal life to which we were called.

Hallelujah, we were called to the eternal life, we were given the eternal life, and it is this eternal life in us that can counteract and defeat any degradation and deviation in the church!

As God’s Soldiers, we Fight the Good Fight against Satan and his Kingdom of Darkness

Who delivered us out of the authority of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Col. 1:13

On the positive side, we fight the good fight of the faith by laying hold on the eternal life and by being constituted with the divine truth so that we speak God’s economy and expose and put aside any different teachings.

On the negative side, we are fighting the good fight against Satan and the kingdom of darkness.

When God created man in the beginning, He created him in His own image and after His likeness; also, God gave man dominion over all things (Gen. 1:26).

Because God has an enemy in this universe, He wants to defeat this enemy not by Himself but through man.

In the word of truth, in the power of God; through the weapons of righteousness on the right and on the left. 2 Cor. 6:7 The night is far advanced, and the day has drawn near. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the weapons of light. Rom. 13:12 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and a helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Thes. 5:8The first man, Adam, was defeated by the enemy, but the second man, Christ, defeated Satan and judged him on the cross.

Even though two thousand years ago the enemy was judged on the cross, he still is moving about, roaming around the earth to do a vigorous work, even a more vigorous work than two thousand years ago.

The works of the devil and his kingdom of darkness is so prevailing, and he is doing things that are beyond our imagination.

We are confronting a very difficult situation, for many things in the world situation and in our environment are related to the activities of the enemy.

The authority of darkness is even more fierce today, for the enemy knows that his end is near, so he is struggling and fighting with all his might.

As God’s soldiers, we fight the good fight of the faith against Satan and his kingdom of darkness (Acts 26:18; Col. 1:13).

On one hand, we fight for the faith, for God’s economy; on the other hand, we know that God has an enemy, and we fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness.

We should not be only able to preserve ourselves whole but we should also challenge the devil (Matt. 12:26, 28).

When the children of Israel who entered the good land and saw the enemies and the giants there, the Nephilim, they thought that they would be eaten by them.

Joshua and Caleb, however, had another spirit; they knew that the land was promised to them and God was with them, so they wanted to boldly go on.

We should not be intimidated by the fierce work of the enemy.

We should not be threatened by his evil works and his attacks.

Rather, we need to know that the Lord is with us, and greater is He who is with us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We are not here only to preserve ourselves whole but even more, to fight against Satan and the authority of darkness to cause him to suffer loss.

In Christianity as a whole the major goal is the welfare of man, the interests of man.

But the Lord has raised up His recovery for His interests and His kingdom.

We are not here just for our benefit or spirituality, nor are we here merely for our overcoming; we are here for the completion of God’s economy, for the building up of His Body quickly.

We are God’s soldiers, fighting the good fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness.

There are many zealous Christians in Christianity today, so zealous for the gospel and for good works; they want to do great works for God. but who today cares for God’s interest on the earth (1 Tim. 1:18; Eph. 6:12)?

Who will be one with God and one with the Body to defeat God’s enemy?

Not only should we do the gospel work and the work of edifying the children of God but even more, the burden of our work should be to put the enemy to shame and to cause him to suffer loss.

The kingdom of Satan will be defeated by the new man, the built-up and perfected Body of Christ.

We should be God’s soldiers, fighting the good fight, overthrowing the devil’s strongholds, and taking captive man’s thoughts unto the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:3-5).

The greatest weapon of the enemy, his strategy and subtlety, is to influence and damage the minds of men so that he may use them for his nefarious purposes.

He injects things into man’s mind and manipulates their mind. As believers in Christ, though we walk in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.

For though we walk in flesh, we do not war according to flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful before God for the overthrowing of strongholds, as we overthrow reasonings and every high thing rising up against the knowledge of God, and take captive every thought unto the obedience of Christ. 2 Cor. 10:3-5Rather, the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful before God for the overthrowing of strongholds.

We exercise our spirit, standing one with the Lord and in the Body, and we overthrow strongholds, and we overthrow reasonings and every high thing rising up against the knowledge of God (Isa. 2:11-12).

We exercise our spirit and take captive every thought unto the obedience of Christ.

When we preach the gospel, we do not try to convince others of the truth in God’s word; we fight the battle to release the hearers from the enemy’s usurpation in their minds.

The human mind is altogether damaged by the devil, so everything is upside down, full of rebellion, and full of darkness.

Our warfare is with the authority of darkness (Isa. 5:20).

We need to fight the battle against Satan and his kingdom of darkness, taking captive man’s thoughts unto the obedience of Christ so that the mind of man can be renewed unto the obedience of Christ.

May we be strong warriors in prayer so that the myriads of evil spirits will not be able to have their way in our being and in the being of the saints.

May we be able to walk and work with Christ, overcoming in this age and reigning in the coming age.

Lord Jesus, we stand one with You and in the Body to fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness. Amen, Lord, we want to be God’s soldiers, fighting the good fight in the Body and one with the Lord. We do not war according to flesh; rather, the weapons of our warfare are powerful before God for the overthrowing of strongholds. Lord, we exercise our spirit to be one with You and one with the Body. We stand one with You by faith and we stand in the Body to fight against Satan and his kingdom of darkness. We exercise the weapons of our warfare to overthrow strongholds, reasonings, and every high thing rising up against the knowledge of God. Amen, Lord, we do not want to only preserve ourselves but also challenge the devil. We want to be strong warriors in prayers so that the myriads of evil spirits would not be able to have their way! Hallelujah, the overcoming One, the victorious One, is in us and with us! Christ has won the victory, and we stand in His victory to proclaim His victory over the enemy! Amen, Lord, we take captive every thought unto the obedience of Christ. We want to walk and work with You, overcoming in this age and reigning in the coming age!

Walk in the Light and Reject any Darkness to See and Enjoy the Divine Reality

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and are not practicing the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin. 1 John 1:6-7The spiritual warfare against Satan and his authority of darkness is very real and practical; you only need to take a look at the world situation and the things happening around us today and you will see how busy the enemy is in damaging man and fighting against God’s interest.

However, so many times in our Christian life we are in darkness; we not only not fight against Satan and his authority of darkness but we ourselves walk in darkness.

1 John 1:6 speaks of walking in darkness.

This is to walk habitually in darkness, to live, behave, and have our being in the nature of Satan’s evil works.

We need to be those who walk in the light (v. 7) and not in darkness.

God is in the light, and all the divine things are real to us in the light.

To walk in the light is to live move, do things, and have our being in the divine light, the light that is actually God Himself (v. 5).

When we live in the light and walk in the light, the divine reality of God and all the divine things are real to us, and we enjoy all that God is in our daily living.

But when we are in darkness, it seems that everything of God, God’s economy, the church, and the church life are not real for us.

It all depends on where we are, in darkness or in the light. When we’re in darkness, we sense that everything is vanity and emptiness. Oh, Lord!

Whenever we have such a feeling or sense, we should turn to the Lord, repent, confess, and come back to the light.

If we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful in His word and righteous in the blood of Jesus to wash us from our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (v. 9).

Then, we can walk in the light, even as the Lord is in the light, and we have fellowship with one another.

When we walk in the light, we see the Lord Jesus and all that He is to us, and we enjoy one reality after another.

Everything related to the Triune God, God’s economy, His salvation, and the church with the church life, is real to us when we are in the light.

But when there’s something that hinders the light, when we have a sin that we did not confess or an offense that we did not deal with, we are in darkness, and God, Christ, the church, and the Body do not seem real to us.

For example, we may be offended by a particular brother or sister; they did not say something out of order or intentionally to offend us, but we may be quite sensitive and they said something, and now we’re offended.

We are not “marble Marys” in the church life; we are men of flesh and bones, and offenses are unavoidable.

If we say that we do not have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9But if we remain in this offense and do not deal with it before the Lord, the switch is turned off, and we’re in darkness.

We may not have an appetite to read the Bible, and we may be unhappy with the saints.

We may not even want to meet with the saints, thinking that the church life is not that enjoyable.

We may think that the ground of the church is not real, and we may not care for the church that much.

On the one hand, we may not deal with the offense because we want that person to come and apologise to us.

On the other hand, Satan and his authority of darkness use that offense to keep us in darkness, and we are the enemy’s prey. Oh, Lord!

But if we just turn on the switch, just turn to the Lord and call on His name, the switch of life and light is turned on, and we repent before the Lord for living and walking in darkness.

We simply enjoy the divine light, we experience the cleansing of the Lord’s precious blood, and the divine things will become real to us once more.

May we fight the good fight against Satan and his authority of darkness by walking in the light day by day, even moment by moment.

Lord Jesus, we want to remain in the light and walk in the light. Amen, Lord, we love to be in the light, walking in the light with the saints and having fellowship with the Lord and with the Body! Hallelujah, when we walk in the light everything of God, God’s economy, the church, and the Bible is real to us! Praise the Lord, we can enjoy the divine reality of all that God is, all He has done, and all that He is doing in us and among us by walking in the light today! Amen, Lord, grant us the grace to walk in the light day by day. We want to fight the good fight against Satan and his authority of darkness by walking in the light and dealing with anything that Your light exposes. We want to deal with any offense, sin, and trespass, so that we may enjoy all the divine realities and shame the enemy! Praise the Lord, the all-inclusive Christ is our portion allotted to all the saints in the light!

When we dwell in God, we are in the fellowship. When we are in this fellowship, we are in light. Then as we walk in the light, Christ, the Spirit, the church, the Body, and the members of the Body are all real to us. However, suppose a sister is offended by an elder. Although the elder had no intention of offending her, nonetheless something he said offended her because she is sensitive. Perhaps the elder said that all the sisters, no matter what their background may be, are fragile…Because she is offended, the “switch” is turned off, and immediately she is in darkness. As a result, instead of enjoying the church life, she begins to be unhappy with the church. The church is no longer real to her, and she no longer cares about the church ground. She may say, “What is the church anyway? And what is the church ground? I don’t care about the ground of the church.” If she stays in darkness, she will eventually find that Christ, the Spirit, and the divine life are no longer real to her in her experience. Suppose after a period of time the sister who has been offended and is in darkness repents. The Lord is merciful and for no apparent reason, she turns to the Lord and says, “O Lord, forgive me.” Immediately, the “switch” is turned on, and the light begins to shine again. Then this sister will experience the cleansing of the Lord’s precious blood, and the divine things will become real once more.

In the Old Testament, God was shrouded in darkness. He was in the Holy of Holies, and man could not see Him. In the Holy Place there was a lamp, and in the outer court there was the sun, but in the Holy of Holies, there was no light at all. God was an unknown God there. Man could only make conjectures about Him. But thank the Lord that today God has been manifested in Jesus of Nazareth. God is now in the light; He is no longer in darkness. Today God is a known God, a revealed God. When you see God today, you know that He is God. The gospel concerning Jesus of Nazareth is the revelation of God. The shining out of the light of the gospel is the shining out of God. When the light of the gospel shines out, we see God. I am not saying that we should not be holy or that we should not reject sin. I am saying that this verse tells us that as God is in the light, we should therefore walk in the light. As God has manifested Himself in the light of the gospel, even so we should see God in the light of the gospel. We no longer look for God in the Old Testament. Today God has manifested Himself. If He had not manifested Himself, we would be hopeless. If He had not manifested Himself, we would still be bewildered, not knowing what kind of God He is. We would still have to make conjectures about Him. Thank God that He has been manifested. Today our God is no longer a “backstage” God. He is now the “onstage” God, the revealed God. The word revelation is apocalypsis in Greek. Apo means away, and calypsis means veil. Hence, apocalypsis means the taking away of a veil. I used to watch theater performances. Onstage there is always a thick curtain. You do not know what is behind the curtain. An apocalypsis is the opening up of the curtain.

Dear brother, we are fighting the good fight against Satan and the kingdom of darkness.

We should be God’s soldiers, fighting the good fight, overthrowing the devil’s thoughts, and taking captive man’s thoughts unto the obedience of Christ.

May we walk in the light, reject anything of darkness, and fight the battle against anything of the authority of darkness.

Lord, keep us in the light today. Keep us one spirit with You and one with the Body. We want to overthrow the devil’s strongholds and take captive any thought unto the obedience of Christ!

Amen, brother. May the Lord be merciful and keep us under His shining.

Often, it’s the things we least expect that can cause us to turn away from our spirit.

The inevitability of shunning the light is that we will find ourselves in darkness.

The divine truths will no longer be real to us, and we will no longer care for God’s interest. What a terrible fate!

Only if we walk unceasingly in spirit and by the Spirit can we be saved from becoming prodigal.

May all those who have lost their way be brought to their senses and call out to Jesus.

Each prodigal represents a defeat for God’s people.

We need to see that to fight the good fight of the faith there is the need to wage warfare against Satan and the evil spirits.

This involves overthrowing the Satanic strongholds including reasonings, thoughts, feelings and every high thing that rises up against God.

For this we need to dwell in God to have fellowship with him so that we may walk in Him as light.

We must remain “switched on” regardless of offenses so that we are not in darkness, with a feeling of emptiness and vanity but be walking in the light so that everything of God, Christ, the church and the Body are real to us.

06/21/24 Fighting the Good Fight (Week 1, Day 5)

“I Have Fought the Good Fight ~ Like the Apostle Paul, We, the Believers in Christ, Need to Fight the Good Fight: (e.) Against Satan and the Kingdom of Darkness”

Matthew 12:26 indicates that Satan has a kingdom. As the ruler of this world (John 12:31) and as the ruler of the authority of the air (Eph 2:2), Satan has his authority (Acts 26:18) and his angels (Mat 25:41), who are his subordinates as principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world (Eph 6:12). Hence, he has his kingdom, the authority of darkness (Col 1:13). Satan and his kingdom are at war, at enmity, with God and His kingdom.

Formerly, before we believed into the Lord Jesus, we were in the kingdom of Satan, but God’s salvation has brought us out of the kingdom of darkness and transfere us into the kingdom of the Son of God’s love (Col 1:13). Now, as believers in Christ, we are no longer in the kingdom of Satan but are in the kingdom of God.

In 2 Corinthians 10:3, Paul speaks concerning spiritual warfare: “For though we walk in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.” Being human, the apostles were still in the flesh. Hence, they walked in flesh. But, especially in spiritual warfare, they did not walk according to flesh. Rather, they walked according to the spirit (Rom 8:4).

To walk according to the spirit is to walk in the light. To Walk according to the flesh is to walk in darkness. On the one hand, our flesh is under the authority of Satan and in the realm of his kingdom of darkness . On the other hand, our regenerated spirit is under the authority of God and in the realm of God’s kingdom of of love, light, and life.

Satan and his rebellious angels, who are the rulers and principalities in the air around us, are constantly dragging us and tempting us to walk according to our flesh, which also influenced our soul, making our mind forget about God, our emotion not to love God, and our will to be independent from God. When we are in darkness, we are blindly following the will of Satan; everything concerning spiritual things will not be real to us (1John 1:6). But when we are in the light, we would clearly see that Christ, the Spirit, the church, the Body, and the members of the Body are all real to us.

To walk habitually in the darkness is to live, behave, and have one’s being in the nature of Satan’s evil works. To walk in the divine light is not only to dwell in this light; also to live, move, act, do things, and have our being in the divine light, the light that is actually God Himself (1John 1:5). When we dwell, live, and have our being in God, we walk in the divine light, which is the expression of God.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our wrestling is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies.” 1 John 1:7 says, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.”

According to these two verses, we must be warned and aware that Satan and his spiritual forces in the heavelies are working their best to bring us into the realm of darkness, which is our flesh. Being in darkness, we shall be blinded from the reality of all spiritual things, such that, we may speak, act, and behave according to our flesh and to our self, thus, causing arguments, quarrel, and division among us, losing our fellowship with one another.

We must realize that these are schemes and strategies of Satan that we would fight against one another so that the Body will not be built up (2Cor 2:11; Eph 6:11). Our fight is not against blood and flesh, that is, against people, but against Satan and his evil forces around us (Eph 6:12). They are using our flesh and our self to fight against even our brothers in Christ.

We must therefore walk according to our spirit, where God and His kingdom of light are. Then, being in the light, we shall experience the reality of all the spiritual things revealed in His Word. When we see some saints arguing and quarreling with others, we need to pray for them in spirit that God would release them from Satan’s realm of darkness and bring them into the realm of light.

“Thank You, Lord Jesus, for revealing to us the strategies of Satan, tempting us to be in darkness, in our flesh and in our self so that the Body may not be built up. Our fight is not against people, but against Satan and his evil forces around us, therefore, we need to continually pray and walk in the Spirit in order for us to constantly walk in the light. Amen.”

Amen! Lord keep us remaining in You. Save us from being in the darkness.

Even the way we walk, keep us marching towards the goal.

Save us from dwelling casually in the darkness.

Lord, we want to keep the switch on! Remind us to exercise our spirit moment by moment!

We walk in the light, but God is in the light because He is light. “The light is the element in which God dwells: compare 1 Tim. 6:16….this walking in the light, as He is in the light, is no mere imitation of God, but is an identity in the essential element of our daily walk with the essential element of God’s eternal being: not imitation, but coincidence and identity of the very atmosphere of life” (Alford).

Yes, brother.

The battle is not individualistic, but corporately with our main captain, Jesus Christ.

In other words, we are warriors together, the church, so that we can be strong to resist and win over our main enemy, the devil.
