God made Jesus in His Ascension both Lord and Christ to Carry out God’s Economy

Heb. 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little inferior to the angels because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor...According to Acts 2:36, God has made Jesus in His ascension both Lord and Christ – He is the Lord of all to possess all, and He is the Christ, God’s anointed One, to carry out God’s commission. These are two of the many statuses and functions He has now in His ascension.

We may know a lot about the Lord’s incarnation, human living, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and His propagation through His disciples as seen in the gospels and in the Acts, but what about Christ in His ascension today, from His resurrection to now?

Most believers think that Christ went to heaven to prepare a heavenly mansion with golden streets and pearl gates for all His believers, and now He’s working really hard to make sure all is done in time for His second return.

Oh Lord Jesus…may we learn to set our mind not on the things which are on the earth – including the natural mentality and natural way of thinking about the Lord and His work and person – but on the things which are in the heaven, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God!

How can we, people on earth, set our mind on the things in heaven? The only way this is possible is by realizing that God has raised us up together with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenlies (Eph. 2:6); now we are in Christ in the heavenlies, so all we have to do is “look around” to appreciate and enjoy all the things concerning Christ in His ascension.

Praise the Lord, in His ascension Jesus was made by God both Lord and Christ – He is Lord of all and the Possessor of all, and He carries out God’s economy to fulfill God’s purpose!

We need to drop any natural concept and opinion, and we need to allow the Lord to continue to expose and remove the things of the earth in our being such as our culture, religion, philosophy, and the improvement of behavior.

Our focus should be Christ, the present Christ in ascension, and His work; He is ministering in the heavens, He is the High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, He is the Lord and Christ, and He does so many things right now.

May we have a heavenly view from the heavenly position where God raised us by exercising our spirit and being in spirit, so that we may be one with the Lord and cooperate with Him in His heavenly ministry!

Setting our Mind on the Things Above to Experience Christ as the Crowned and Enthroned One

Eph. 1:22 And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church. The Lord Jesus has been in the heavenlies for the past two thousand years, and the New Testament gives us some indications of what He is and what He is doing in His ascension these days.

One thing is for sure: He is not working on building a physical city made of precious stones, neither is He working on mansions and golden streets. Rather, as we see in the New Testament, in His ascension Christ was enthroned by God, He was made the Head over all things to the church, and He was made Lord and Christ.

Peter tells us in Acts 2:36 that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, Paul tells us in Eph. 1:22 that in His ascension Christ has been made Head over all things to the church, and in Hebrews 2:9 we see that the Lord Jesus was crowned with glory and honor.

Furthermore, in Rev. 5:6 we see that Christ is the Lamb with seven eyes on the throne executing the government of God to carry out His universal administration. Such things are the things above.

We may be so preoccupied with our own things, either human things or even necessary spiritual need we have to take care of, but we need to realize that our Christ is far above all, enthroned in heaven, the Head over all things, the Lord and Christ, crowned with glory and honor.

As those who have been raised up with Christ, we need to live with Christ in God, finding our life here, and seek the things which are above where Christ is.

On the one hand, for our daily living and supply, Christ is our food, our drink, our Sabbath, our new moon, and our feast. Christ is our daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly supply and enjoyment, and we need to constantly come to Him in His word to eat Him, digest Him, assimilate Him, be constituted with Him, and live because of Him.

Setting our mind on the things above will help us to experience Christ. The Christ whom we may experience is not only our food, drink, Sabbath, new moon, and feast. He is not only our daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly enjoyment. Our Christ is the One crowned and enthroned, the One who is the Lord and the Head, the One carrying out God’s governmental administration. How much richer our enjoyment of Christ would be if we set our mind on these things! Witness Lee, Life-study of Colossians, pp. 504-505Furthermore, Christ is also the One crowned and enthroned, the Lord and Christ, the Lord and the Head over all, the One who carries out God’s governmental administration.

We need to have an uplifted appreciation and enjoyment of Christ by setting our mind on the things above, enjoying Christ and cooperating with Him in His heavenly ministry!

According to the New Testament, the things which are above include Christ’s ascension, His enthronement, and His being made the Head, the Lord, and the Christ.

If we enjoy and experience Christ in His ascension, we will have a full realization of God’s administration, His sovereignty, His enthronement, and Him being the Ruler of the kings of the earth.

When we set our mind on the things above we will care only for what is the decision of the throne, renouncing our feelings, concepts, opinions, and preferences, and realizing that God has made Jesus in His ascension both Lord and Christ!

Lord Jesus, we want to set our mind on the things above so that our experience of Christ may be uplifted to know Him as the One who was crowned with glory and honor, enthroned by God, and made Lord and Christ. Amen, Lord, we seek the things which are above, where Christ is in His ascension, and we renounce our feelings, our concepts, and our preferences. Praise the Lord, Jesus was made by God both Lord and Christ, He was crowned with glory and honor, He is the Head over all things to the church, and He is the One carrying out God’s administration and executing God’s government. Hallelujah for our ascended Christ!

God has made Jesus in His Ascension both Lord and Christ to Possess all and Carry out God’s Economy

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you have crucified.Acts 2:36 says that God has made Jesus – in His ascension – both Lord and Christ; He was made the Lord of all to possess all things and persons, and He was made Christ – God’s anointed One (Heb. 1:9) – to carry out God’s commission.

As God, the Lord Jesus was the Lord all the time (see Luke 1:43; John 11:21; 20:28), but as man, He was made the Lord in His ascension after He brought His humanity into God in His resurrection (Rom. 1:3-4).

Jesus is God, and as God He always was the Lord; but as man – when He was incarnated, He was not the Lord of all. After He was crucified and buried, God resurrected Him and raised Him to His right hand, making Jesus – a Man, a Nazarene – the Lord of all in the universe.

Now a Man – Jesus Christ – is the Lord of all! He was made Lord of all to possess all and rule over all.

He possesses all – including you and me and everyone in our life; He possesses everything we have and we are, so we should not be bothered or upset when He does something with us or the things we have. Often we as men don’t know what we should do, but if we wait and see, we will see what God wants to do and what He does.

Christ is the Lord of all to possess all, and He does things with us and with the things concerning us that we would not expect.

It needs to be settled in our being that, although we may have feelings, we are not stumbled when the Lord as the Lord of all does something. Rather, we need to be the members of the Body one with the ascended Head, realizing that Christ has obtained the Lordship, and we as the church are under Him as the Head and Lord.

Christ in His ascension was made not only the Lord of all but also the Christ of God. As the Christ of God, He is the anointed One and appointed One to carry out God’s economy, His plan.

Christ in His ascension has not only been made the Lord of all but also the Christ of God to work out the spreading of the gospel and the building up of the church that God’s chosen people may be saved and perfected for the constitution of the New Jerusalem to be God’s eternal habitation and manifestation according to God’s New Testament economy for God’s eternal satisfaction. As the One in ascension, Christ was made both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36) that He might possess all and that He might carry out God’s commission through His heavenly ministry to accomplish God’s plan (10:36; Heb. 1:9). Witness Lee, The Conclusion of the New Testament, p. 2980God chose Christ and anointed Him to work out the spreading of the gospel and the building up of the church so that God’s chosen people may be saved, grow in life, and be perfected for the building up of the church, the preparation of the bride, and the consummation of the New Jerusalem.

It is good for us all to realize that Christ is the One anointed and appointed to be everything and do everything in God’s economy. We are not qualified – Christ is. If we want to participate in God’s economy, we need to be one with Christ and let Him do everything in us and through us.

We need to realize that we are attached to Christ, even one with Him (1 Cor. 6:17); He is the anointed One, and He is the One appointed to be everything and do everything in God’s economy. He is the ONE, and we are one with Him.

When we set our mind on the things above, we cannot do anything apart from Him, for He is both Lord and Christ, and we are joined to Him in spirit.

Praise the Lord for our Christ, the One in ascension, who was made both Lord and Christ to possess all and carry out God’s commission through His heavenly ministry to accomplish God’s plan!

Lord Jesus, we praise You as the One in ascension who was made by God both Lord and Christ to possess all and to carry out God’s economy! Lord, You are the Lord of all to possess all – You possess us and all the things concerning us, and we enthrone You in our being, we acknowledge Your sovereignty, and we want to be one with You in everything. Lord, You are the Christ, the One anointed and appointed by God to carry out His commission to accomplish God’s plan. We set our mind on the things which are above, and we want to be fully one with You, Lord, as the One who is both Lord and Christ!

As a child I was taught that the things above are the various features of heaven—the mansions, the pearly gates, and the golden street….According to the New Testament, the things above include Christ’s ascension, His enthronement, and His being made the Head, the Lord, and the Christ. In Acts 2:36 Peter says God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ. In Hebrews 2:9 we are told that the Lord Jesus has been crowned with glory and honor. In Ephesians 1:22 we see that in ascension Christ has been made Head over all things to the church. In Revelation 5:6 we see that Christ as the Lamb with seven eyes is now on the throne executing God’s government. Such things are the things above. (Life-study of Colossians, p. 504, by Witness Lee)
