The importance and benefits of morning revival are repeatedly stressed in the churches and among the saints in the Lord’s Recovery.
This practice not only takes care of our personal relationship with the Lord, but also allows for the healthy teaching and solid food being assimilated at bite-size portions, regularly, and in line with the current, up-to-date speaking.
This practice, combined with the content of the seven feasts, produces a tangible experience of oneness across continents, countries, and cities where the churches are established and follow this pattern.
The practice of morning revival is important to us personally, subjectively, and metabolically but even more so, it strengthens the bonds within the Body on a much larger scale than the local church we belong to.
We eat the same thing, speak the same thing, and follow the same flow which the Lord graciously bestows on His recovery by way of seven feasts and the subsequent spread of this “fresh food” to all the churches.
My Practice of Morning Revival Recently
My recent practice of morning revival has gone through different stages. Before my wife and I got married, during our courtship, we had a regular morning revival time over the phone each morning, which included a brief calling on the name of the Lord, a short prayer, some pray-reading of that day’s verses, and reading through the ministry portion, often sharing a little bit at the end.
Following our wedding and moving in together, we continued to practice this regularly in person. I was finishing off my university degree during the first few months following our wedding, so my time in the morning was usually free and we could enjoy the portion together.
However, once I finished my degree and went on to work in full-time employment, we stopped our corporate time as my schedule requires me to get up much earlier than my wife.
On the one hand this provided me opportunity to have a personal, quiet time with the Lord before I leave for work – I could go through the portion somewhat quicker – but on the other hand I started to occasionally miss morning revival by either hitting the snooze button too many times or being distracted by something and then not having enough time to adequately enter into that day’s portion.
In my experience as of late I am struggling somewhat to establish, ring-fence, and keep that time each and every morning. Some days it’s better while other days it’s worse, and I blame myself for this inconsistency.
However, regardless of whether or not I was able to eat and get nourished every morning, I will still strive to enter into the outline and daily portions before the Lord’s Table meeting in order to participate in the prophesying meeting with the view to the building up of the saints in my locality.
Preparing to Prophesy on the Lord’s day
The ministry says that the best way to prepare is to extract one main point with several sub-points in relation to what we want to speak. Depending on the size and atmosphere of the meeting, this may often be the best method; but sometimes the Spirit may lead you to speak longer or touch on several points that make the burden clearer.
As long as we have entered into the material and have some degree of constitution and enjoyment, we should rather be in need of keeping our speaking short than having not much to say; this was my experience in recent years.
I find it very helpful to listen to the spoken messages and the audio recordings on which the current material is based. Often times the outline and daily portions are not enough to fully grasp the main burden and the points the brothers wanted to put across.
The audio messages convey the emotional load that can often be missed by mere reading through outline and then the excerpts.
Sometimes, in a week of going through the daily portions every day, I still couldn’t think of something to speak at the prophesying meeting; but after listening to the message, the portion came to me.
I often use, paraphrase, and repeat what the brothers have said – this is the practice of speaking with one voice, speaking the same thing. We don’t need to come up with “new stuff” to say – everything is in the books, in the recordings, and in the up-to-date speaking, so we need to take it in, internalize it, digest it, and speak it for the benefit of others.
What if no “HWMR book”?
And what if there is no “Holy Word for Morning Revival” at hand? Should there be no morning revival at all? Absolutely not. This practice is first and foremost for us to touch the Lord, to connect with Him after the dead of night, to be cleansed and brought into a living state by all means possible.
Praying, calling, singing, pray-reading, reading the Word, and reading the ministry – all these are ways to get revived, to turn to our spirit and face the day in the spirit having been “zoefied” first thing in the morning.
The HWMR book is a very practical aid to achieve this goal, and it affords us the luxury of not having to come up with content upon which we will feed this very morning. It is all prepared and served to us – we just need to sit down and eat.
Praise the Lord for His faithful servants whose labour of “cooking” these meals for us is embodied in those precious books! May we be given mercy and grace to avail of these provisions the Lord has arranged for His lovers in His recovery.
