The book of Acts reveals a group of people who live in the divine history by continuing to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David, the faithful things, which are all the aspects of what Christ is as God’s sure mercies to us. Amen, we want to be such ones today!
As believers in Christ, we are those who continue Christ today, for we live in the divine history within human history to write the history of God in humanity.
Christ has stepped out of eternity into time, and He has come into us as the life-giving Spirit to live in us the same kind of life that He lived while He was on the earth.
This is what we see in a vivid way in the book of Acts, where the disciples of Christ not only preached the gospel to spread the church but even more, lived in the divine history within human history and were one with the Lord in all things.
How can we be the true disciples of Christ today, those who write today’s history of God in man? We need to be open vessels to the Lord.
We simply need to open to Him. We don’t need to make a plan to do this or that great work for God and then ask Him to bless us; rather, we first need to open to Him, love Him, receive Him, and be filled with Him.
We need to come to the Lord in all our situations and in all environments to allow Him to be everything to us and do everything in us, through us, and for us.
Our Christian life is not a deliberate life where we try our best to obey the word of God and do what God tells us to do.
It is a spontaneous life, even the spontaneous living of Christ in us. The Christian life and church life is the living of Christ from within the believers in Christ.
For this to happen, we really need to open to the Lord and let Him be everything to us and in us. And we need to come to Him in the Word, even continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the Word.
We persevere in prayer, continuing in it with thanksgiving concerning all the saints, bringing all our petitions and requests to the Lord.
Even more, as we pray, we set our mind on the things above, where Christ is, and we reflect His ministry on the earth, praying for what is on His heart.
We depend on prayer, for in prayer we draw all our life from the Lord and we allow Him to do what we can’t do, be what we can’t be, and speak what we can’t speak. Amen!
The Resurrected Christ is the Firstborn Son of God and the Holy Things of David, the Faithful Things, which are All the Aspects of what Christ is as God’s sure Mercies to us
In Acts 13:32-34 Paul was giving a speech concerning Christ, and he announced the gospel of the promise made to the fathers.
He said that God has fulfilled the promise of the Spirit by raising up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, “You are My Son; this day have I begotten You.”
And as to His having raised Him from the dead, no longer to return to corruption, He spoke in this way, “I will give you the holy things of David, the faithful things.”
The book of Acts reveals a group of people who live in the divine history by continuing to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David, the faithful things.
The holy things of David, the faithful things in Acts 13:34 literally mean, “the holy things.”
The same word is used for the Holy One in the next verse, but in the singular. This Holy One is Christ, in whom God’s mercies are centred and conveyed.
In other words, the holy things of David, the faithful things, refer to the resurrected Christ. Christ, as the seed of David, was begotten through His resurrection to be the firstborn Son of God and the life-giving Spirit as God’s sure mercies shown to David (Isa. 55:3-4). Amen!
In Acts 13:34 Paul interprets God’s sure mercies in Isaiah 55:3 as “the holy things of David, the faithful things,” and in Acts 13:33 and 35, he indicates that these things are the resurrected Christ Himself as the firstborn Son of God and as the Holy One.
This is also confirmed by Isaiah 55:4, which reveals that the sure mercies are Christ Himself as the Witness, Leader, and Commander to the peoples. How wonderful!
Faithful means also trustworthy; the resurrected Christ is the holy and trustworthy things God gives to us. Amen!
The resurrected Christ is not only our Saviour bringing us redemption and God’s salvation, and He’s not only the Firstborn Son of God. Even more, the resurrected Christ is the holy and faithful things as a gift given to us by God.
The resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and the life-giving Spirit is a great gift given by God to His chosen people, and this gift is entitled “the holy things of David, the faithful things” (Acts 13:33-34).
What are these holy and trustworthy things? What are all the aspects of Christ as mercies to us? The New Testament shows us many aspects of what Christ is to us.
According to the New Testament, Christ is life, light, grace, righteousness, holiness, justification, and sanctification.
In every book of the New Testament, we see many aspects of what the resurrected Christ is to us.
We simply need to live in the divine history by continuing to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David, the faithful things.
We need to enjoy all the aspects of what Christ is as God’s sure mercies to us. Christ is the bread of life and the living water.
The book of 1 Corinthians shows us many aspects of Christ for our enjoyment and experience.
Christ is our power, wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, redemption, glory, the depths of God, the unique foundation of God’s building, the Passover, the unleavened bread, the spiritual food, the spiritual drink, the spiritual rock, the Head, the Body, the firstfruits, the second man, and the last Adam.
In the Gospel of John, we see more aspects of what Christ as the sure mercies of God is to us; He is our Shepherd, our pasture, our living bread, our bread of life, our life, and so many other things.
May we enjoy Christ and experience Him as the sure mercies of God to us. May we come to the Lord and experience all that He is to us in our daily living.
May we live in the divine history today by continuing day by day to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David.
The resurrected Christ is the mercies and blessings, the holy and faithful things, whom God gives to us as a great gift; this gift is the resurrected Christ Himself as the reality of the eternal covenant with all His unsearchable riches to be our all-inclusive grace (see Isa. 42:6b; 55:3; 1 Cor. 1:9; Acts 13:43).
God gives us Christ as a great gift for our enjoyment and experience today.
Lord Jesus, we want to live in the divine history by continuing to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David! Amen, Lord, we open to You today. We want to enjoy and experience You as the faithful things, that is, all the aspects of what You are to us as mercies! Unveil us to see You, Lord, and cause us to enjoy You as the sure mercies of God to us! We take You as our light, our life, our grace, and our food. You are our wisdom, our power, our righteousness, and our sanctification! Amen, Lord, we take You as our Shepherd and as the pasture. We just want to enjoy You. May we be those who continue to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David! Be our enjoyment and experience today. Work Yourself into us and constitute us with all that You are so that You may be expressed through us! Oh, how much Christ is to us as the holy and trustworthy things!
Enjoy, Live, and Proclaim the Resurrected Christ as the Holy Things of David, God’s Sure Mercies to us
It is one thing to know that Christ is the bread of life (John 6:35), but it is something completely different for us to enjoy, live, and proclaim Christ as the sure mercies of God to us, one of which is the bread of life.
All that Christ is to us is a sure mercy from God; however, we need to not only know but also enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as God’s sure mercies to us.
For example, the Bible tells us that husbands should love their wives (Eph. 5:25) and that wives should submit to their husbands (v. 22).
However, a husband’s love for his wife is Christ as mercy to him, and a wife’s submission to her husband is also her experience of Christ’s mercies to her.
If a husband, being in Christ, loves his wife, this surely is a mercy, for his love for his wife is Christ Himself as a mercy to her. Similarly, if a wife is in Christ and submits to her husband, that is also a mercy, for her submission is Christ Himself as a mercy to her.
All the Christian virtues are simply Christ as God’s sure mercies to the saints. If we are patient and we endure, that is the mercy of God, if we are in Christ when we do this.
We may naturally be patient, kind, and gentle, and we may express ourselves when we are in such a way; this is not the mercies of God to us.
But when we exercise our spirit, contact the living Lord as the resurrected Christ, we enjoy the sure mercies of God to us.
God has given us a gift: the resurrected Christ as the mercies and blessings from God, even the holy and faithful things. Now we need to simply enjoy Him.
He has covenanted Christ to us as the sure and faithful things, even the trustworthy things.
In ourselves we are not trustworthy nor are we faithful, and we are not stable and immovable; however, the mercies of God to us are sure, trustworthy, and faithful.
When we enjoy the Lord in the morning and we receive His light concerning a particular matter, when we receive the Lord’s leading in a particular thing, we enjoy God’s sure mercies to us.
When we speak to others, when we open our mouth and are one with the Lord to speak what we have seen, enjoyed, and experienced of Christ, that is God’s mercy, for His mercies are ours and are flowing in us and through us.
In our daily Christian life, we need to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the holy things of David, the faithful things, even God’s sure mercies to us.
As we read the Bible, as we fellowship with the Lord, and as we live our Christian life, we need to open to the Lord and allow Him to be the sure mercies of God to us.
What kind of people are we today as the continuation of Christ? We are those who enjoy this marvellous gift from God, that is, the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and the life-giving Spirit as the holy things of David, the faithful things.
As we enjoy Him as the sure mercies from God, we become the continuation of Christ on earth, for we live in the divine history within human history.
May we truly be the Lord’s continuation on the earth by living in the divine history today as we continue to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn of God and as the holy things of David.
May we enjoy Him as such a One, live Him as such a wonderful One, and even proclaim the riches of Christ, the sure mercies of God, to others for their enjoyment and participation!
Thank You, Lord, for giving us a great gift – the resurrected Christ as the mercies and blessings from God! Hallelujah, the resurrected Christ is the reality of the new covenant with all His unsearchable riches to be our all-inclusive grace! Amen, Lord, we come to You to enjoy You. We want to enjoy Christ as the sure mercies of God, the holy things of David. We take You as our love and patience. We take You as our life and our light. We open to You and we take You as our life and person. Amen, Lord, what a mercy it is for us to enjoy You as our love for our wife and as our submission to others. Keep us enjoying You today. May we continue to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David! We take You as our wisdom in our daily living. We take You as our speaking; be the very words in our mouth so that we may give grace to those who hear. Hallelujah, God has covenanted Christ to us as our everything, and we can live in the divine history by continually enjoying, living, and proclaiming the resurrected Christ as the sure mercies of God!

Dear brother, we need to live in the divine history by continuing to enjoy, live, and proclaim the resurrected Christ as the firstborn Son of God and as the holy things of David, the faithful things, which are all the aspects of what Christ is as mercies to us.
Oh, Christ is the mercies of God to us for our enjoyment and experience today! It is a mercy to enjoy Him as our love and kindness, and even our speaking for the Lord is a mercy!
Oh Lord Jesus, we love You! Praise and thank You! Enjoy You all the time, from the morning to the evening ~ “oh how much Christ is to us as the holy and trustworthy things!” … “This speaking Christ is a mercy.”
Amen, brother, we agree.
Brother, it’s mercy all that we can now live to proclaim Christ the seed of David, who through resurrection has been begotten to be the firstborn Son of God & the Life-giving Spirit as God’s sure mercies shown to David!
This “Holy One” is Christ, the Son of David, in whom God’s mercies are centred and conveyed. Hence, “the holy things of David,” the “Faithful & Trustworthy things,” refer to the resurrected Christ as a gift given by God to His chosen people.
How can we explore exhaustively in time, the account of this One – the mercies & blessings, the immeasurable and unsearchable riches in Him as faithful and trustworthy things, the reality of the eternal covenant as the all-inclusive grace. Oh, we would need eternity to declare its boundless good!
Amen, we can only enjoy the riches of our real David through the mercy shown to David..
What can we do but praise & thank the Lord for His multifarious holy & faithful things. Christ’s holy & faithful things are His mercies to us.
Mercy is both love & grace, but it reaches further than love.
Way back before the foundation of the Earth, the Triune God determined to call & select us to be the enjoyers of the many aspects of the Son.
Let us unceasingly call on the name of Jesus so that Christ’s holy & faithful things would become real in our daily experience. Amen.
Amen, keep us enjoying You as our mercies today Lord Jesus. All the holy and faithful things are Christ Himself as mercy to us. He is trustworthy and holy
Amen hallelujah!! Thank You for Your sure mercies to us. Everything is just mercies.
Our living, existence, being, acting, enjoyment, experience, etc are just His mercies even Himself is mercies themselves!
OH We love You, Lord!
