The Lord Jesus as the reality of the trespass offering has made purification of sins and sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: all has been accomplished, He did it all, and we can just enjoy it and praise the Lord! Hallelujah!
Our Christ as the reality of the trespass offering is so much, and the Bible clearly reveals to us many aspects of Christ and His redemptive work which He accomplished on the cross.
Even though the judicial redemption that Christ accomplished on the cross is the base and the organic salvation He’s carrying out now is the process we’re in and appreciate the most, we need to realize that without this judicial redemption, we cannot have the organic salvation.
The procedural side is His redemptive work, and we need to spend time with the Lord in His Word to appreciate Christ’s redemption, for this will improve and increase our appreciation and treasuring all that He has done, and by doing so, we will live Him as the new creation.
There are at least eight main aspects of Christ as the trespass offering for our enjoyment and appreciation:
- Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He died on the cross as the Lamb of God to deal with sin and sins, and to take away sin from the human race. He fulfilled all the requirements of God’s righteousness, holiness, and glory, and He died as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world.
- Christ died for our sins – He died a vicarious death, that is, He died as our Substitute (1 Cor. 15:3). Christ represented us to die for our sins in order to accomplish redemption. He gave Himself up for us that He may redeem us from all lawlessness.
- Christ suffered once for sins, the Righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God (1 Pet. 3:18). Christ – the righteous One – was judged on behalf of us, the unrighteous ones, by the righteous God, so that He might remove the barrier of sins, and bring us to God.
- Christ bore up our sins in His body on the tree in order that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by His bruise we are healed (1 Pet. 2:24). Christ has been offered once to bear the sins of many; He suffered the judgment for us on the cross, and now by believing into Him, we can live to righteousness in the resurrection of Christ.
- Christ Himself is the propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2). God loved us so much that He sent His Son as a propitiation for our sins. He offered Himself to God to appease God and redeem us; Christ is the propitiation between God and us.
- Christ gave Himself for our sins that He might rescue us out of the present evil age according to the will of our God and Father (Gal. 1:4). The goal of His crucifixion is for us to be rescued, plucked out, extricated from the present evil age, and especially from the religious course of the world.
- Christ poured out His blood for many for forgiveness of sins, and this is the blood of the covenant (Matt. 26:28). Without shedding of blood there’s no forgiveness of sins, but Christ’s blood was shed, even poured out, to make a complete redemption for us so that all our sins may be forgiven.
- Christ made purification of sins and sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Heb. 1:3).
Christ made Purification of Sins and Sat Down on the Right Hand of the Majesty on High
As the reality of the trespass offering, Christ, having made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (see Heb. 1:3).
Christ came and put away sin (Heb. 9:26) by offering Himself to God as the unique sacrifice for sin; then, He sat down forever on the right hand of God (Heb. 10:12). This means that His sacrifice, His offering, was approved by God, and the taking away of sins has been accomplished.
He no longer has to do anything for sin – He has accomplished it, and He has done it once for all. In the Old Testament time the priests had to be standing daily and offer the same sacrifices again and again, but Christ sat down – He has accomplished it, He made purification of sins!
First, He purified our sins in the past; He not only atoned for our sins, that is, He not only covered our sins, but He washed them away.
In the Old Testament time the atonement was only able to cover sins (Psa. 32:1) but it was not able to take them away, so there was the need for offering the sacrifices again and again.
But Christ came and has taken sin away (John 1:29), and He made purification of sins once for all; therefore, He sat down forever! In God’s eyes, sin is over; sin has been washed away.
When the Lord Jesus accomplished redemption, He completed the work of cleansing; on the cross, the Lord Jesus finished a perfect cleansing on our behalf and placed it before God. Now such a cleansing can be applied to us at any time!
First, He shed His blood on the cross to accomplish redemption, and now His blood cleanses away all man’s defilement that results from sin.
After He shed His blood on the cross, Christ sat down at the right hand of God on high; He brought His own blood into the Holy of Holies in the heavenlies, and He sprinkled it before God (Heb. 12:22, 24) to make propitiation for our sins, so that we may be cleansed from our sins and be clean before God (Lev. 16:30).
Furthermore, Heb. 9:14 says that Christ offered Himself to God through the eternal Spirit; He offered Himself to God in a human body – in the likeness of the flesh of sin (Heb. 10:5, 10), but He did this through the eternal Spirit! Wow!
So this means that this Man, Jesus Christ, offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins through the eternal Spirit, and His offering was once for all (Heb. 7:27), and the redemption accomplished through His death is eternal (Heb. 9:12), having an eternal effect! Hallelujah!
Now whenever someone hears the gospel and believes into the Lord, the eternal redemption accomplished by Christ on the cross is applied to him in time and space.
Whenever we as God’s people turn to the Lord, walk in the light, have our sins exposed, and confess our sins, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from every sin, for Jesus has made purification of sins once for all and sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high! Praise the Lord!
We praise You, Lord, for making purification of sins and sitting down at the right hand of God! You have accomplished everything: redemption’s work is done, sin is dealt with by Your cross, and our sins have been washed away! We can now come to You and confess our sins, and Your eternally effective blood will cleanse us from every sin, and we will be cleansed and forgiven! We praise You, Lord Jesus, for accomplishing such a wonderful redemption! Hallelujah!
The Wonderful Effects of Treasuring and Experiencing Christ as the Trespass Offering
Christ dying for our sins to take sin away is the basis of our Christian experience. He took away our sins, He died for our sins, He suffered for our sins, He bore our sins, He made propitiation for sins, He gave Himself for our sins, He poured out His blood for the forgiveness of sins, and He made purification of sins. Wow!
What an offering – what a sacrifice, and what a wonderful redemption we have! As believers in Christ we can and should enjoy Christ as our sin offering and trespass offering, and as we do so, there are some wonderful effects.
Here are fourteen of the wonderful effects of treasuring and experiencing Christ as the trespass offering:
1. We follow Jesus. The disciples of John the Baptist heard him saying of Christ, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29), so they left him and followed the Lord (John 1:36-37); so will we, when we see Christ as the Lamb of God. When we see Christ as the trespass offering, we will simply follow Him. We will follow the Lamb wherever He may go.
2. We love the Lord very much (Luke 7:47). Enjoying and experiencing Christ as the trespass offering will result in a deeper and sweeter love for the Lord Jesus, for we who are forgiven much love much! We are like the woman who all knew how sinful she was, but she was forgiven by the Lord, so she loved Him much; the Lord forgives us so much, and we love Him so much!
3. We live no longer to ourselves but to Him who died for us and has been raised (2 Cor. 5:14). When we see Christ as the One who died for us, we will judge this – He died for all, therefore we all died, so that we who live, we would no longer live to ourselves but to Him who loved us and gave Himself up for us. Our appreciation of Christ as the trespass offering results in our consecration to Him.
4. We will live by faith in Him. As the ones who treasure Christ as our trespass offering, we will live in the faith of Christ, the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself up for us, for we realize that we have been crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20). The result of enjoying Christ as the trespass offering is that we live in the organic union with the Lord through our appreciation of His dear person and the precious work of redemption He has made for us.
5. We will live to righteousness. Christ gave Himself up for us to deliver us from our old manner of life so that we may no longer serve sin as slaves; now that we are free from sin, we will live to righteousness, that is, we live rightly under God’s government. The result of appreciating Christ as the trespass offering is that we live in a way that matches the righteous requirement of God’s government (see 1 Pet. 2:24).
6. We will walk in love. Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor; because we treasure Him as such a one, we also walk in love (Eph. 5:2). This means that we appreciate Christ as the trespass offering, and we walk in the very substance of God (love) in our daily life, both before God and man.
7. We no longer walk like the ones in this age. When we appreciate Christ as the trespass offering, we cease to walk a different kind of walk, a walk according to the age of this world, whether it is secular or religious. We will walk with God, in God, with Christ, in Spirit, and by the spirit.
8. We will have a holy manner of life. We were redeemed not with corruptible things such as gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, the Lamb of God without spot or blemish; since therefore we have been thus redeemed, we will live a sanctified life and we will have a holy manner of life (1 Pet. 1:18-19). He redeemed us from our vain manner of life handed down from our fathers with His precious blood. Thank You, Lord!
9. We come forward with boldness to contact God and eat Christ as the tree of life. The result of taking Christ as the trespass offering is that we can come forward with boldness to enter into the Holy of Holies through the new and living way that the Lord’s blood has opened, so that we may take Christ as the tree of life for our enjoyment (Heb. 10:19). Hallelujah, we now have the boldness to enter into God to enjoy Him as life again. What a great thing this is!
10. We will serve our living God. Christ offered Himself through the eternal Spirit to God without blemish or spot; He purifies our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. We turn from idols and dead works to serve a living and true God, who has redeemed us! Everyone who has been redeemed by Christ is His, and he serves Him.
11. We will live as God’s kingdom. Christ loved and released us from our sins by His blood, and made us a kingdom (Rev. 1:5). Christ purchased us from every tribe and people and nation to be God’s kingdom. The issue of enjoying Christ as our trespass offering is that we live as God’s kingdom to exercise His authority to represent Him for God’s economy in the church life today.
12. We will serve God as priests. Christ redeemed us to make us a priesthood to accomplish the divine ministry for God’s worship and satisfaction. He redeemed us to be a kingdom of priests, and as redeemed ones, we serve God as priests – we minister to God and we minister to man (Rev. 1:5).
13. We will love one another to practice the genuine oneness. It is not that we first loved God but that He loved us, and He sent His Son as a propitiation for our sins; therefore, as those who enjoy Christ as our trespass offering, we need to also love one another (1 John 4:10-11). Even our loving one another is a direct result and outcome of our treasuring the redemption of Christ and appreciating Him for dying for our sin and sins!
14. We have fellowship with one another in the light. Hallelujah, when we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God cleanses us from every sin (1 John 1:7, 9). The result of enjoying Christ as the trespass offering and the sin offering is that we have fellowship with one another to jointly participate in the enjoyment of the Triune God for His purpose. Hallelujah!
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your wonderful redemption! We love You so much, Lord, for You have forgiven us so much. We want to follow You, the Lamb of God, wherever You may go. We no longer want to live to ourselves but to You, and we want to live by faith, in the organic union with You. We want to live to righteousness and walk in love, no longer walking according to the age of this world. We come forward, Lord, to enjoy You as life, and we want to serve You as our living and true God. Thank You for making us a kingdom, priests to our God and Father! Thank You for bringing us into the church life to practice loving one another and having fellowship with one another in the light! Hallelujah for such a wonderful redemption!

Hebrews 9:14 tells us that Christ offered Himself to God through the eternal Spirit. On the cross Christ offered Himself to God in a human body (Heb. 10:5, 10), which body is a matter of time. But He did this through the eternal Spirit, who is of eternity, without any limit of time. His offering of Himself was once for all (Heb. 7:27), and the redemption accomplished through His death is eternal (Heb. 9:12), having an eternal effect.
Christ’s offering Himself as a sacrifice for sin involves His being the sin offering. During the last three hours He was on the cross, He was in the sight of God the unique sinner offering Himself as a sin offering. This work was accomplished once for all, and it is eternally effective. (The Conclusion of the New Testament, p. 761, by Witness Lee)
