Christ becomes our life in an organic way: by us eating and drinking of Him! God is life, Christ is life, and the Spirit gives life. The Triune God as life wants to become our life – and He does it in a very subjective and organic way. He doesn’t “force His way in” us, He just presents Himself before us as food (just like He did in the garden of Eden: He presented Himself to Adam as the tree of life).

What gets into us by us eating or drinking has to be something organic, of life, that can sustain life and help life grow. And as we eat something, we are being constituted with that food/drink, and it becomes us/we become it! If we eat not-so-good food, we will not grow/develop properly. But if we eat healthy solid food, proper for our being, our whole expression will be shining, normal, and healthy.

In John 6:51 the Lord said “I am the living bread which came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever”. Christ came as the living bread – the embodiment of the tree of life – to be our life subjectively.

Christ is our life today (Col. 3:4) and He will be manifested out of us as we are feeding on Him and are being filled with Him! We are what we eat – if we eat healthy spiritual food, we are spiritually healthy; if we eat Christ, we become like Him, having His appearance and expression!

When we eat the Lord Jesus (in His Word, in prayer and fellowship with Him), we live because of Him (John 6:57). In the physical world, we live because of the food that we eat – this food gets into us and sustains our physical life; in the spiritual world, we live because of the Christ that we eat!

Actually, as we eat Christ, we digest and assimilate Him into our spiritual being, thus being constituted with Christ! He is being assimilated into us organically – even the very fibers of our spiritual being!

The food that we eat becomes us, and we become what we eat. It is impossible to locate/separate the food that we eat once it is being digested and assimilated into our body. In the same way, as we enjoy Christ and eat Him as the real food and drink, He becomes us and we become Him – it is impossible to be separated!
