The Lord Jesus is the Unique Nazarite who enjoyed the Richest Grace and Sweetest Love

Among the human race, the unique Nazarite is the Lord Jesus; hence, a Nazarite is a type of Christ in His living absolutely for God in His humanity (John 5:30; Phil. 2:8; cf. Matt. 11:28-30; Eph. 4:20-21; John 6:57).

God’s desire is for all His people to be Nazarites, and the Lord Jesus is the unique Nazarite living in our spirit today!

A Nazarite is a type of Christ in His living absolutely for God in His humanity by enjoying God as the richest grace and sweetest love to choose the good and reject the evil.

The crystal we are focusing in Num. 6 is, God’s desire for All His People to be Today’s Nazarites. This is what the Lord wants today – He wants an army of Nazarites, that is, He wants that all His people would be Nazarites who are formed into an army to fight for His interest.

The vow of the Nazarite as presented in Num. 6:1-9 is wonderful, and we all need to have such a wonderful vow. In the church life in the Lord’s recovery we are in the land of equal opportunity, and we all can be Nazarites.

The Nazarite vow is a special provision against the degradation in the priesthood. When the priesthood became old, stale, and degraded, the Lord needs some who would make this special vow to become priestly Nazarites.

Generally speaking, all believers are priests to God, but we all have to admit that, in fact and subjective experience, the priesthood has become degraded, old, and stale. We do not want to be old but new, we don’t want to be stale but fresh, and we don’t want to be degraded but recovered.

The principle in God’s New Testament economy is that God needs man to match Him in His move on earth; He desires for all His people to be Nazarites for is move on earth and for His satisfaction in this universe.

Four Vital Characteristics of the Nazarites who are Absolutely for God

Num. 6:2 Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, When a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazarite, to separate himself to Jehovah.First of all, only the Nazarites can bring the Lord Jesus back; the Nazarites are the overcomers, and when the Lord gains a sufficient group of overcomers, He will return. Only the Nazarites can bring the Lord back, and the Nazarites are the constituents of Christ’s bride; as such, they bring the Lord Jesus back.

Secondly, the Nazarites are actually the messengers to the churches, as seen in Rev. 2-3. When the Lord addressed the churches, He didn’t address them directly but the messengers of each of the church. Without messengers, there is no speaking from the Lord to the churches.

If we are not the messengers in the churches today, the Lord has no way to speak to the churches through us. A messenger is someone who takes Christ as the real Messenger, and who has a fresh message from God to speak to His people; this message is also Christ.

We all need to aspire to be today’s messengers to the churches, which are today’s Nazarites.

Thirdly, in Num. 6, immediately after the section on the vow of the Nazarites, there’s the eternal blessing of the Triune God by the priest; this is not coincidental but rather, very significant.

To bless people with the Triune God we must be today’s Nazarites; we can’t bless people with the Triune God if we are not today’s Nazarites.

In Gen. 12:2 the Lord told Abraham that He will bless him and he will be a blessing; our prayer should be,

Lord, bless us and makes us a blessing to others! Bless us with Yourself as the Triune God and make us a channel of blessing with the Triune God to all the saints in Your recovery and to all the people on the earth!

Four Vital Characteristics of the Nazarites: 1. Only the Nazarites can bring back the Lord Jesus. 2. The Nazarites are the messengers in the churches in Rev. 2-3. 3. Only the Nazarites of today can bless people with the Triune God. 4. The Nazarites are for God's satisfaction, which in this age is the testimony of Jesus. Finally, the fourth vital characteristic of the Nazarites is that they are for God’s satisfaction, which in this age is the testimony of Jesus. In the Old Testament they were around the tabernacle, serving God related to the Tabernacle of the Testimony however the need was.

Because the law as the testimony of God was in the ark, the ark was called the Ark of the Testimony, and the entire Tabernacle was called, the Tabernacle of the Testimony. Today we are the testimony of Jesus, and all the Nazarites are for the testimony of Jesus.

In Rev. 1:2 John said that he was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

The testimony of Jesus is revealed in Revelation as the lampstands in ch. 1, the great multitude in ch 7, the bright woman in ch. 12, the harvest with its firstfruits in ch. 14, the overcomers on the sea of glass in ch. 15, the bride ready for marriage in ch 19, and the New Jerusalem in chs. 21-22.

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of the prophecy (Rev. 19:10); it is the substance, disposition, and characteristic of the prophecy in the book of Revelation. We are here for the testimony of Jesus, and the Nazarites live absolutely for God’s satisfaction, which today is the testimony of Jesus.

Lord Jesus, we give ourselves to You to be the Nazarites of today who bring You back. Make us those in the churches who have the fresh message for God for the church of God. Lord, bless us with Yourself as the Triune God, and make us a channel of blessing with the Triune God to all the saints and to all the people. Amen, Lord Jesus, we are here on the earth for Your satisfaction, the testimony of Jesus. We are here not for ourselves or our interest but for the testifying church, for the church to be the proper testimony of Jesus on the earth!

The Lord Jesus is the Unique Nazarite who enjoyed the Richest Grace and Sweetest Love

Isa. 7:15 He will eat curds [butter] and honey until he knows how to refuse evil and choose good. When we speak of being a Nazarite we need to realise that, among the human race, the unique Nazarite is the Lord Jesus; hence, a Nazarite is a type of Christ in His living absolutely for God in His humanity (see John 5:30; Phil. 2:8; cf. Matt. 11:28-30; Eph. 4:20-21; John 6:57).

In ourselves and by ourselves we cannot be a Nazarite, neither do we want to be; but praise the Lord, we have a Nazarite in our spirit! In our spirit we have Someone who is absolutely for God, and we simply need to contact Him and learn Christ as the reality is in Jesus (Eph. 4:20-21).

This means that we need to learn Christ subjectively, experientially, according to the actual condition of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels.

When we eat the Lord as our spiritual food, we live because of Him, for He becomes the basic factor, element, and essence of our living (see John 6:57).

If we look at the Lord Jesus as the real and unique Nazarite, we may wonder, How could He as a man reject evil and do good? How could He choose the Father’s will and reject His will? How could He reject glory from man and seek the glory from God? How could He reject the world and choose God?

In Isa. 7:14-15 we are being given the key – in His human living the Lord Jesus ate butter (the riches grace) and honey (the sweetest love) all the days of His life, and thus He was enabled to choose the good things of the Father’s will and refuse the evil.

The Lord Jesus, the Immanuel prophesied in Isa. 7:14 who was born out of a virgin, was a Nazarite, and He ate butter and honey until He learned to reject the evil and choose the good.

Butter, the richest food, refers to the richest grace; honey, the sweetest food, refers to the sweetest love. We need to learn how to partake of the riches grace and the sweetest love, and we will be enabled to refuse the evil and choose the good.

The good here is actually the good, well pleasing, and perfect will of God (Rom. 12:2).

When the Lord Jesus was only twelve years old and He remained in the temple, His parents looked for Him and when they found Him, He told them that He must be in the things of His Father (see Luke 2:48). He was only twelve years old but He ate the richest grace and sweetest love until He was filled with the Father’s intention and desire.

Furthermore, instead of telling His parents to let Him stay in the temple, the Lord went home with them and was submissive in all things. On one hand He was inwardly strengthened to choose the good, and on the other, He was enabled to choose God’s will and thus be subject to His parents.

If it would have been us in His place, we may have wanted to break free from our parents and be in God’s house; but the Lord chose the difficult thing that God had given Him because He ate the richest and sweetest of foods before God.

In His human living, the Lord Jesus ate butter (the richest grace) and honey (the sweetest love) all the days of His life; this richest grace and sweetest love of the Father enabled Him to choose the good things of the Father’s will and refuse the evil (Isa. 7:14-15; Matt. 11:25-26; 14:22-23; 26:39; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16). The reason anyone can choose the Father’s will and give up something, deny himself, or choose the difficult thing is that behind him there is the great and reinforcing power of the enjoyment of Christ as the richest grace and the sweetest love (John 1:17; Rom. 5:17; 2 Tim. 2:1; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Gal. 2:20; Rom. 8:37; 12:1-2). Crystallisation-study of Numbers (1), outline 5Then, in Matt. 11:25-26, after the leading cities in Israel through which He went rejected Him, instead of saying something to punish these, the Lord answered and said, I extol You Father…. – He answered and said to the Father, being always in fellowship with Him, and He praised the Father even for being rejected, for He realised that it was the Father who hid some things from the capable and smart ones, but He has revealed them to the children and the poor.

In case after case we see that the Lord as the unique Nazarite enjoyed God as the richest grace and sweetest love, and He was enabled to do the good and reject the evil.

In Mark 1:35 the Lord was in the house, and the whole village was gathered at the door; if this would be us, we would stay there for a long time, but the Lord went out and away to a deserted place at night, and there He prayed; and when others came and found Him, He said, Let us go from here.

What governed Him was not the environment but the Father’s will. He chose the Father’s will because He enjoyed the Father as the richest grace and the sweetest love.

The reason we or anyone can choose the Father’s will and give up something, deny ourselves, or choose the difficult thing, is that behind us there’s the great and reinforcing power of the enjoyment of Christ as the richest grace and the sweetest love (see John 1:17; Rom. 5:17; 2 Tim. 2:1; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Gal. 2:20; Rom. 8:37; 12:1-2).

It is the Father’s will for us to be His Nazarites; therefore, we need to enjoy Christ as the richest grace and the sweetest love, and we will be enabled to choose God’s will and reject the evil, being one with God for His move on earth.

Let us keep enjoying the Lord as the richest grace and the sweetest love, and this will be our reinforcement power to choose to be today’s Nazarites.

Lord Jesus, we choose to be today’s Nazarites, those who eat and enjoy Christ as the richest grace and the sweetest love. We come to You, Lord, the unique and real Nazarite in our spirit, so that we may be infused with You and be made the same as You are. It is only by eating You as the richest grace and sweetest love that we can choose the good things of the Father’s will and refuse the evil. Lord, keep us enjoying You, keep us in fellowship with You, and make us fully one with You as the unique Nazarite, so that we may be the Nazarites of today, those formed into an army to fight for Your interests on earth!
