being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace

being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peaceBefore we believed in the Lord and also whenever we are in ourselves, we are not ONE and we cannot be one! But after we were regenerated, in the divine life we received we have the ONENESS of the Spirit! It’s all in the divine life! All we have to do is to “keep the oneness of the Spirit”… I love the first few verses in Ephesians 4 (vs. 2-3),

with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing one another in love, being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace: One Body and one Spirit…

This morning I was impressed with several things regarding our practical keeping of the oneness of the Spirit:

First of all, before everything else, we need to realize that our oneness is in the Triune God and even is the Triune God mingling Himself with us. Therefore, in order for us to have the oneness, we need to be IN THE TRIUNE GOD! That is, we need to be in this “divine and mystical realm” of the pneumatic Christ and the consummated Spirit.

Our oneness – the genuine oneness – is the mingling of the believers with the Triune God. In order for us to have such oneness in our experience we need to be in the Triune God as a divine and mystical realm! Only by being in this realm we can have the oneness – only by being in our mingled spirit can we have the genuine oneness!

Then, this oneness is not something “in the air, spiritual, intangible”… but it is practical – we keep the oneness by practicing the oneness first diligently, then with all lowliness, all meekness, and all suffering! In our keeping of the oneness we need to bear one another in the divine love and in the uniting bond of the divine peace. We keep the oneness in the exercise of our spirit and the living out of the enriched human virtues!

As believers, we are persons who always enjoy Christ and are filled with Christ, saturated with Christ, until we are full of God! We are God’s expression by being saturated with Him and even being one with Him! Our love, humility, and meekness are not our own expression – they are filled with the divine essence. Actually, our virtues need to be the mingling of divinity with humanity.

Yes, we are human beings, but we should live a life full of virtues – a life which expresses God! In this way, in the church life, we manifest God – and the church expresses God in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16)! This is the way we keep the oneness – by allowing the Triune God to mingle Himself with us and to express His divine attributes through our human virtues! This is practical and real, in the church life, where we see saints that express God through their human virtues!

Hallelujah, we have this oneness of the Spirit for which the Lord prayed in John 17 – now we just need to apply it, experience it, and enjoy it! Practically, to apply and to practice and to keep the oneness of the Spirit is to practice the one accord! The one accord is the oneness in practicality, and is what the Lord needs to have among us in order for Him to pour out His blessing!

May we all just give ourselves to Him to be more mingled with Him that we would express Him, and may we all keep the oneness of the Spirit by practicing the one accord! [enjoyment from, “The Divine and Mystical Realm” and the “Vital Factors for the Recovery of the Church Life“, both by brother Witness Lee]

Lord, gain Your heart’s desire! Gain what You are after with us, Lord! Thank You for giving us the oneness of the Spirit – it’s in our mingled spirit! Lord, we pray for more mingling of divinity with our humanity today! Mingle Yourself with our mind, emotion, and will! Fill our human virtues with the divine essence, Lord! Make us Your expression in a bountiful way! O, Lord, gain the oneness in practicality among us! Gain the one accord – the key that unlocks all the blessings in the New Testament economy of God!
