being a Christian student on campus – seeing the church life and finding my home here!

being a Christian student on campus - seeing the church life and finding my home here! [university of Hertfordshire, Harts, UK]Being a university Christian student on campus has been a very enjoyable yet difficult experience. It is my first year at university and my enjoyment of Christ has been so much more personal as well as corporate, in a way that I had never really experienced before.

Being in the halls [the students’ dorms], I’ve found a lot more time to read the Word and pursue the Lord. These times have been so fresh to me. Even at times when I didn’t feel like reading the Word after a rough day, the life and the supply I found in the Word was exactly what I need to be revived. Praise the Lord! The Word restores and grounds us with a firm foundation. Sometimes it is difficult living with ten other flatmates who mostly want to go out and party. So often I am asked or even begged to join them – yet the life within will not let me. There is a sense of death within even when I considered doing so. But when I obey that life within, there is such a peace and joy within. I thought it would be so hard to continue to say no. But the more I enjoy the Lord and the more I spend time in His presence, it becomes SO easy (and quicker) to flee these things (2 Tim. 2:22).

Also I’ve found that my flatmates, although they know I’m a Christian, will come to me to talk about things, be it problems or issues. I don’t really consider myself as someone to confide in but the more I am separated from their activities, the more they come to talk to me about life issues. Even one flatmate often comes to me and – although he insists that he doesn’t believe in the Lord and won’t! – he seems he wants to know more. I’ve realised how much they are seeking to be filled and satisfied with something real and lasting. We need to bring Christ to each one and pray for each one. I think Brother Lee shared that if the Lord has placed someone on your heart, it usually means He intends to save that person through you. It can be hard to speak to them but we need to unceasingly pray.

Last but not at all least, I’ve very much enjoyed REALLY beginning to SEE the church life! Before this semester, they were just “meetings” to me but now, the church life is part of my life line. The church life is really God’s flock. We all love the Lord and here in the church life you find the real oneness. We are still learning but it is so genuine, and we are all here gathered by the Lord Himself. We can supply one another, pray together, and be blent together. Here is my family! Glory be to God! May He have His expression on the earth!

Amen how sweet..this was a similar experience to mine, I am now a a sophomore in Central Connecticut State being at the saint's homes is always so welcoming and warm. The home made food is always great and full of love. They have always answered my questions in the meetings, I feel so free to open up and hear the older saint's experience
