We Died to Law and Live to God in the Organic Union with Christ: No Longer I But Christ

For I through law have died to law that I might live to God. Gal. 2:19

We died to the law and live to God in the organic union with Christ – it is no longer I but Christ!

In Gal. 2:19-20 we see a wonderful and mysterious matter, even a spiritual fact, in our Christian life: through law we died to law so we might live to God, and it is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. Amen!

The Christian life is not a life of doing things for God or merely obeying His law outwardly; it is a life of enjoying and experiencing Christ so that we may express Him.

On the one hand, we need to know Christ, enjoy Christ, and experience Christ in a subjective way. On the other hand, the result of our enjoyment of Christ is that we express Christ.

The New Testament unveils to us that God wants to be intimately related to us, for He wants to have a personal relationship with His people in a subjective way.

God wants not only to be worshipped and obeyed by man; He wants to enter into man to be man’s life and everything so that man may live by God, with God, for God, and in God. Wow!

For this, God went through a process so that He may become the life-giving Spirit to come into our spirit and mingle Himself with our spirit. God wants to be so intimately related to us that He comes into us, in the innermost part of our being, and He mingles Himself with us. Amen!

Gal. 1:15-16 tells us that it pleases God the Father to reveal His Son in us. It is God’s intent and pleasure for His Son to be revealed in us. We simply need to come to Him again and again and turn our heart to Him, and the Lord will reveal Himself in us.

The revelation we receive of Christ is not merely something outward but an inward revelation, something very subjective, for us to know Him inwardly and personally.

Thank the Lord that we are now believers in Christ; as believers, we learn to turn our heart to the Lord so that any veils may be taken away, and we want to behold the Lord face to face!

When Christ is revealed in us, we have an inward seeing of His preciousness, and we are captured by Him; our life is never the same after that.

Now that Christ is revealed in us, we love Him, we are infused with Him, and we live one spirit with Him. He lives in us and we live in Him.

He grows in us and we let Him expand in every part of our being. He is formed in us and we are conformed to His image. This is a very subjective relationship, something that is so intimate and personal; this is our Christian life today.

We have Died to the Law and Live to God through the Organic Union with Christ

But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of spirit and not in oldness of letter. Rom. 7:6

In Gal. 2:20 we are told that we have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. And the life we now live in the flesh, we live in faith, the faith of the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself up for us.

This is the most basic truth of God’s economy, that is, that it is no longer I but Christ living in me.

What we see here, however, is not an exchanged life; we don’t give God our old, poor, frail life, and He gives us His better, divine, eternal life. Rather, as we see in v. 19, we through law have died to law that we might live to God.

The law of God is holy and righteous, and according to the requirements of the law, we as sinners need to die, for we cannot meet these high requirements.

However, according to the requirement of the law, Christ came and died for us and with us; we have died to the law in Christ and with Christ. Praise the Lord!

Now there’s no more obligation for us to be under the law, for our relationship with the law has been terminated! We have died to the law and now we live to God through the organic union with Christ.

To live to the law is to try in ourselves by the efforts of our flesh to accomplish what the law says we should do. To live to God is to be obligated to God in the divine life.

Through Christ’s death on the cross, the law has been terminated, and we are included in Christ; we have died with Christ to the law.

We need to realize that, when Christ was crucified according to God’s economy, we were included in Him; this is an accomplished fact (Rom. 6:6; Gal. 2:20; 6:14).

It is a fact that we have died with Christ and in Christ. By faith in Christ, by means of our organic union with the Lord, we have been crucified with Christ toward the law, sin, the flesh, and the self, and we now live to God in the organic union with Christ.

May we realize that we are joined to the Lord to be one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17), and in this organic union with the Lord we have become dead to the law so that we may live to God. Praise the Lord!

We may think that today in the New Testament we no longer keep the law in the Old Testament; however, many times we believers in Christ take the word of God as a law, and we even have some self-made laws.

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17 Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither [can] you unless you abide in Me. John 15:4There are many very good principles, ordinances, and practices in the Bible, and unconsciously, we make our own laws according to which we live.

Without even realizing it, we are under the law, and we are in bondage, for we can never keep the law in our natural man. But praise the Lord, we have become dead to the law so that we may live to God in the organic union with Christ!

When we’re under the law, whether the Mosaic law or our own self-made law, we cannot live to God. But we have been discharged from the law (Rom. 7:6) in which we were held.

We have been liberated from the obligation to the law, and now we can walk in newness of life (6:4). Praise the Lord!

We have died to the law and live to God through the organic union with Christ (John 15:4-5; 1 Cor. 6:17; Rom. 12:4-5; 1 Thes. 1:1).

May the Lord unveil us to see that this is an accomplished fact based on which we live our Christian life.

Based on the fact that we are one with the Lord in spirit, we have died to the law and we live to God in the organic union with Christ. Praise the Lord!

Lord Jesus, unveil us to see the accomplished fact that we have been crucified with Christ! Hallelujah, when Christ was crucified according to God’s economy, we were included in Him! Praise the Lord, it is an accomplished fact that we have been crucified with Christ and now Christ lives in us! Amen, Lord, may we realize that through law we have died in Christ and with Christ, and now we are debtors to the law no more! Hallelujah, we have become dead to the law so that we may live to God through the organic union with Christ. Amen, Lord, we want to live one spirit with You today. Keep us in the organic union throughout the day. Keep us turning to You, setting our mind on the spirit, and taking You as our life and everything. Save us from being law-keepers; make us organic-union-abiders today! May we abide in the Lord by remaining in the organic union with Him in our daily living! Amen, Lord, no longer I but Christ!

No Longer I who Lives but Christ who Lives in Me: we live to God with Christ and through the Spirit

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them and became a fellow partaker of the root of fatness of the olive tree. Rom. 11:17 I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5May the Lord have mercy on us to remove any veils from our eyes so that we may see what does it mean for us to be crucified with Christ and for us to have Christ living in us. On the one hand, it is no longer I who live; on the other hand, Christ lives in us, and we live.

This is not an exchanged life; rather, it is a grafted life.

We can see this in Rom 11; we as a weaker branch were cut and joined to Christ as the stronger, cultivated tree, and we have been joined to Him as one spirit.

There’s the cutting, the joining, and the fitting together; there’s no exchanged life but a grafted life. The rich life sap from the stronger tree is being dispensed into the weaker branch so that the branch may bear fruit.

This is what the Lord also says in John 15:4-5; here we see that Christ is the vine and we are the branches, and we need to abide in Christ so that He may abide in us.

Praise the Lord, today it is no longer I but Christ who lives in me, and we live to God with Christ and through the Spirit!

We don’t give Him our old, poor, sinful life, to receive in exchange His rich, divine, eternal life; rather, we are grafted into Him, and we still live, yet Christ lives in us.

This is a fact of the basic truth of God’s New Testament economy revealed to us in Gal. 2:20.

It is no longer I but Christ living in me; this is a fact, yet it is mysterious, and therefore it has been very much misunderstood and applied among Christians throughout the generations.

We through law have died to law so that we may live to God in the organic union with Christ.

We have been crucified with Christ; this did not happen physically but spiritually, for through faith in Christ, God put us in Christ so that whatever Christ went through becomes our spiritual history and inheritance.

We need to take God’s word and pray over it, even declare it in faith and stand upon it. This means that we need to realize in our spiritual experience that we have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us.

We no longer live in the old man or the natural man; we no longer live in the flesh or by the self. Now Christ lives in us.

Not only Paul but we all, each one of us, need to have such a testimony today, that Christ lives in us and it is no longer I who lives.

Our old man has been crucified with Christ (Rom. 6:6); it is no longer the old man who lives but Christ who lives in us, and we live to God with Christ (Rom. 6:8, 10) and through the Spirit (Gal. 5:16, 25).

In this way we enjoy the processed Triune God in our experience. We enjoy the Lord in our experience by seeing His loveliness and preciousness. He is the most wonderful One.

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. Rom. 6:8 But I say, Walk by the Spirit and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh. Gal. 5:16When we come to the Lord in His word day by day, and when we fellowship with Him throughout the day, we have a sense of the Lord’s preciousness.

We live, yet not us, but Christ who lives in us, and the life we live is now in faith, in the organic union with the Lord. Hallelujah!

On the negative side, we have been crucified with Christ, for our old man has been crucified with Him. On the positive side, we still live, yet it is no longer I but Christ – Christ lives in us!

We are dead to the law and living to God; in the organic union with Christ, we experience the Lord’s resurrection life. In the resurrection life, we are held to God spontaneously, we are obligated to Him, and we live one spirit with Him.

We all can testify that this is true in our experience. Many times when we turn to our spirit, exercising to touch the Lord and enjoy Him, we sense that we are cut off from the old man and the self, and we are joined to Christ in an organic union with Him.

In this way, in this organic union with the Lord, we live by faith, in the faith of the Son of God, that is, by being one with Him organically.

Praise the Lord, by believing into Christ we are joined to Him organically to receive all that He is and to have Him live in us!

Lord Jesus, thank You for making us one spirit with You. Hallelujah, we are joined to the Lord as one spirit! Oh Lord, we want to remain in this organic union today. We simply want to abide in You. Thank You for cutting us off from the old man and grafting us into You. Hallelujah, we are now branches abiding in Christ as the vine! Amen, we abide in You, dear Lord, by faith in You. It is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us! Praise the Lord, no longer I but Christ! Hallelujah, our old man, our natural man, our self, and our flesh have been put to death, and we now live in resurrection, one spirit with the Lord! Amen, Lord, we want to remain in our mingled spirit today, living one spirit with You. We want to live to God with Christ and through the Spirit, enjoying and appreciating Your loveliness and preciousness. Lord Jesus, we love You! You are infinitely precious. We want to live in the organic with You today in all things.

The law requires me, a sinner, to die, and according to that requirement, Christ died for me and with me. Hence, through law we have died in Christ and with Christ. Therefore, the obligation under the law, the relationship to the law, has been terminated. To live to God means to be obligated to God in the divine life. In Christ’s death our relationship with the law has been terminated; in His resurrection we are responsible to God in the resurrection life. We have become dead to the law so that we may live to God. As long as we still hold to any kind of law, whether the Mosaic law or our self-made law, we cannot live to God. However, when we are cut off from the law by means of the organic union with Christ, we spontaneously live to God. To be dead to law means that we have been discharged from the law in which we were held. Romans 7:6 says, “Now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held.” Having been liberated from obligation to the law, we may now walk in newness of life (6:4). However, walking in newness of life depends upon the cutting we experience in the organic union with Christ. The more we experience the cutting, the more we live to God and walk in newness of life.

Amen, Lord Jesus, may we see this basic fact in God’s economy. May we abide in You today so that we may live one spirit with You, living and walking in newness of life!

Amen, may we abide in You today Lord in organic union.

Through Christ’s death our relationship with the law has been terminated so that we may live to God.

We no longer need to strive through the flesh but by the Spirit.

Yes, we need to live in organic union with Christ. In this organic union, we are dead to self-made Torah and alive to God.

Whenever we have a self-made law we always strive to keep it by the strength of the flesh, not by the Spirit.

We need to grow in our appreciation of Jesus.

This appreciation becomes our faith which unites us with Jesus organically.

The more we experience the cutting off of the natural man with his self-made law, the more we live to God and walk in newness of life.

Dear brother, in Galatians 2:20 we see a basic truth of God’s New Testament economy that we no longer live but it is Christ who lives in us.

With Christ we died to the law and through resurection He lives in us as the faith through which we have an organic union with Him, through the Spirit to live to God.

The more we appreciate His loveliness and preciousness the more we experience and enjoy Him to walk in newness of life and present Him to others.

Lord, keep us joined to You to live in such a union that as we walk the Christian life You be expressed through us! Amen brother! May we see such a basic truth to live to God!

Amen, brother!

You’ve summed it up better than I could!

Crucified with Christ, it is no longer we who live but Christ lives in us.

Now, in faith, we live to God, obligated to God, and in His resurrection life, responsible to God!

We can live in an organic union in His divine life!

Hallelujah, keep us living in this way !!!

The law requires us, as sinners, to die, and according to that requirement Christ died for us and with us. Hence, through law we have died in Christ and with Christ. Gal. 2:19 footnote 1 on, through law.

I.e., the obligation under the law, the relationship to the law, was terminated. Gal. 2:19 footnote 2 on, died to law.

I.e., be obligated to God in the divine life. In Christ’s death our relationship with the law has been terminated; in His resurrection we are responsible to God in the resurrection life. Gal. 2:19 footnote 3 on, live to God.

This explains how it is that through law we have died to law. When Christ was crucified, according to God’s economy we were included in Him. This is an accomplished fact. Gal. 2:20 footnote 1 on, crucified with Christ.
