The Reality of the Divine Trinity for the Constituting of the Kingdom in Matthew

Go therefore and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matt. 28:19

The reality of the Divine Trinity is revealed in Matthew for the constituting of the kingdom of God; from the first to the last chapter of this book, we see the Triune God moving, working, speaking, and doing all things in oneness to gain man, constitute man, and fill man so that man becomes part of His kingdom and then goes with His authority to make heathen people into kingdom people. Hallelujah!

Matt. 28:18-19 is a crucial portion related to both our Christian life and our Christian work. As believers in Christ, we not only believed into the Lord Jesus to be regenerated with His life but we also were baptized into the Triune God.

First, we believe, and then, we are baptized. However, we did not realize what happened at the time of our regeneration nor did we fully realize what our baptism is and means.

So we as believers in Christ today need to go deeper into what the Bible says both concerning our faith in Christ and our baptism.

Baptism in particular is not just an outward sign; the Lord commissioned His disciples to go and disciple all the nations baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

There is one name but three persons; there is one name of the Triune God, and there is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

The Triune God is truly a mystery, for He is one yet three, three yet one.

The three of the Divine Trinity cannot be separated nor do they do or speak individually.

We human beings are very independent, and even when we get married, we still remain quite independent, not depending on others but rather, building up our own person and individuality.

But with the Triune God, it is not so; the Father and the Son and the Spirit are intimately related and interdependent.

When we were regenerated, it was not just Christ who came in our spirit; rather, the Father and the Son and the Spirit came into our being as one.

Similarly, with our baptism, we were not just baptized into the name of Jesus but even more, we were baptized into the Triune God.

We were baptized into the Father and into the Son and into the Spirit; we were baptized by being immersed not just in water outwardly but by being immersed into the Triune God inwardly. Hallelujah!

We need to know what is the reality of our baptism.

We need to live day by day in the reality of being terminated in our old life on the negative side and germinated with the divine life on the positive side. Hallelujah!

The Reality of the Divine Trinity for the Constituting of the Kingdom as seen in Matthew

But if I, by the Spirit of God, cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Matt. 12:28

In the gospel of Matthew we see that, for the constitution of the kingdom, Matthew discloses the reality of the Divine Trinity by giving one name for all three – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit (Matt. 28:19).

When the Lord Jesus commissioned His followers to go and disciple all the nations baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, He unveiled right at the end of Matthew that our great commission is in the reality of the Divine Trinity.

In Matthew chapter 1, in the opening chapter of Matthew, the Holy Spirit, Christ the Son (v. 18), and God the Father (v. 23) are present for the production of the man Jesus (v. 21).

And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon Him. And behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have found My delight. Matt. 3:16-17In Christ’s incarnation we have not just Christ the Son but even more, the Father and the Spirit being intimately involved; Christ was the embodiment of the entire Triune God.

The Lord Jesus, as Jehovah the Savior and God with us, is the very embodiment of the Triune God.

In chapter 3 of Matthew, we see a scene in which the Son was standing in the water of baptism under the opened heaven, the Spirit like a dove descended upon the Son, and the Father spoke out of the heavens to the Son (vv. 16-17).

On one hand, Christ was baptized; on the other hand, the Father opened the heaven and spoke, and the Spirit descended upon the Lord Jesus.

In Matt. 12 see the Son, in the person of man, casting out demons by the Spirit to bring in the kingdom of God the Father (v. 28).

Yes, it was Christ the Son who cast out demons, but He did it by the Spirit of God and for the bringing in of the kingdom of God the Father.

This is the reality of the Divine Trinity being revealed and disclosed. In Matt. 16 the Father revealed the Son to the disciples for the building of the church, which is the life-pulse of the kingdom (Matt. 16:16-19).

Then in chapter 17 the Son entered into transfiguration (v. 2) and was confirmed by the Father’s word of delight (v. 5), bringing in a miniature display of the manifestation of the kingdom (16:28). Amen!

Through all these cases we see how the Father, the Son, and the Spirit were present together, worked together, and did all things together.

Eventually, in the closing chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, we see the great commission for the disciples to baptize the repentant sinners into the Triune God.

After Christ as the last Adam passed through the process of crucifixion, entered into the realm of resurrection, and became the life-giving Spirit, He came back to His disciples in the atmosphere and reality of His resurrection to charge them to make the heathen the kingdom people by baptizing them into the name of the Divine Trinity.

We are commissioned by the Lord to baptize people into the person, the reality of the Divine Trinity.

The Triune God was there, throughout the processes the Lord Jesus went through, working in different ways.

And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood has not revealed [this] to you, but My Father who is in the heavens. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever you bind on the earth shall have been bound in the heavens, and whatever you loose on the earth shall have been loosed in the heavens. Matt. 16:16-19And after He entered into resurrection, He charges us to not only be in God by being baptized into God but even more, to disciple the nations by baptizing them into the reality of the Divine Trinity.

This is not a doctrine; this is the spiritual reality of the believers in Christ today.

The Triune God is not for our doctrinal understanding and apprehension but for our enjoyment.

The whole Bible is structured with the Divine Trinity; from Genesis to Revelation we see the Divine Trinity being manifested and working together.

The Father is the source, the planner, and the origin; the Son is the course, the One who fulfils and carries out what the Father plans; and the Spirit as the flow applies all that the Father planned and the Son accomplishes into us.

Without God being Triune, there is no way for Him to dispense Himself into us, His chosen people, for the fulfilment of His economy.

In the book of Matthew in particular, the last verses of this Gospel we see that we are to baptize people into the reality of the Triune God.

The Triune God went through a process to become the life-giving Spirit, and as such, He is enterable, enjoyable, experiential, and applicable.

We can receive Him, enjoy Him, touch Him, drink Him, and be baptized into Him. Praise the Lord!

Lord Jesus, thank You for going through a process to become the life-giving Spirit so that we may be able to receive You, touch You, drink You, and be baptized into You! Grant us to see a vision of the reality of the Divine Trinity for the constituting of man to be part of the kingdom of God! Amen, Lord, we believe into You. We are baptized into the Triune God. We are one with You. We go in Your name and with Your authority to disciple all the nations by baptizing them into the Triune God! Amen, Lord Jesus, we want to enjoy You, be filled with You, and be one with You to bring others into an organic union with You! Praise the Lord, the Triune God became a man and, through death and resurrection, He became a life-giving Spirit for us to drink Him, partake of Him, and be baptised into Him! Amen, Lord, we want to live one spirit with You today so that we may be filled with You and bring others also into an organic union with You by faith!

We are Baptized in the Reality of the Triune God for the Constituting of the Kingdom of the Heavens

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matt. 1:1 And if you are of Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise...But to Abraham were the promises spoken and to his seed. He does not say, And to the seeds, as concerning many, but as concerning one: "And to your seed," who is Christ. Gal. 3:29, 16The Lord Jesus is revealed in the Gospel of Matthew as the heavenly King coming to set up His kingdom on the earth.

He is the King-Savior, and He came to sow Himself as the seed of the kingdom into man, in man’s hearts, to grow in man and with man into a realm in which God can rule and reign.

According to Matthew, being baptized into the reality of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is for the constituting of the kingdom of the heavens.

The heavenly King has commissioned us, His kingdom people, to go and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the reality of the Divine Trinity for them to be constituted as citizens of the kingdom of God. Amen!

Unlike an earthly society, the heavenly kingdom cannot be formed with human beings of flesh and blood (1 Cor. 15:50).

The kingdom of the heavens can be constituted only with people who have been immersed into the union with the Triune God and who have been established and built up with the Triune God, who has been wrought into them.

The Lord’s eyes were set on the kingdom of God when He was on the earth, and today it is the same: His eyes are set on the kingdom of God, the coming millennial kingdom.

The kingdom is right around the corner, for we are living at the end of this age.

We need to pray for His kingdom to come and we need to preach the gospel of the kingdom to enlarge the kingdom of God.

We are here for the kingdom of God; we’re not here merely for some good work or just to add some new members to the church.

We are here for the kingdom of God. We are citizens of the kingdom of God and we want to produce kingdom people through our discipling of all the nations.

We disciple others by baptizing them into the reality of the Divine Trinity to bring them into an organic union with the Triune God.

First, we ourselves need to enjoy our divine inheritance, which is the Triune God Himself with all that He has, all that He has done, and all that He will do for us, His redeemed people (Acts 26:18).

The Triune God is embodied in the all-inclusive Christ (Col. 2:9) who is the portion allotted to us, the saints in the light, for our inheritance and enjoyment.

To open their eyes, to turn [them] from darkness to light and [from] the authority of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me. Acts 26:18 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col. 2:9 Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light. Col. 1:12Hallelujah, God is our inheritance and enjoyment, for God is embodied in Christ coming to us as the life-giving Spirit for us to enjoy, and the Holy Spirit is the pledge of our inheritance (Eph. 1:13-14).

As we enjoy Him, we become His kingdom and His kingdom is enlarged in us. God today is looking for His kingdom, but who can be there to be the constituents of this kingdom?

By the Lord’s arrangement, we today have the responsibility to announce and preach not just the gospel of grace and love but the gospel of the kingdom all over the earth!

We preach the gospel to produce disciples who will be baptized into the Triune God to be brought into an organic union with Him and be the constituents of the heavenly kingdom! Amen!

This is the intrinsic reality of our preaching the gospel and baptizing people; it is not just to get them saved and become part of the church but to make them constituents of God’s kingdom.

The kingdom of God is not formed with human beings of flesh and blood; it is constituted with people who are immersed into the union with the Triune God!

The kingdom of God is the mingling of God and man – God and man mingled together as one by the growth of God in us!

May we be those mingled with God more today, those who allow the Lord to grow in them and who are immersed into the Triune God! Amen, may we cooperate with the Lord to baptize others into the Triune God!

Lord Jesus, thank You for making us heavenly kingdom people by our baptism into the Triune God! Hallelujah, we are constituents of the kingdom of God not as men in flesh and blood but as people immersed into the union with the Triune God! Amen, Lord, we want to remain in the organic union with You today to enjoy the Triune God as our all! Establish us, Lord, and build us with the Triune God. Work Yourself into us. May we live not just as men in the flesh but even more as believers in Christ who have been immersed into the Triune God to live in an organic union with Him! Oh Lord, we want to be in You, enjoy You, and partake of all that You are, so that we may also bring others into the organic union with the Triune God by baptizing them into the reality of the Divine Trinity! Amen, Lord, we want to be those who carry out the great commission one spirit with You today! Keep us in our mingled spirit. Mingle Yourself more with us. Flow in us and flow through us!

In Matthew 12 the Son, in the person of man, cast out demons by the Spirit to bring in the kingdom of God the Father (v. 28). In chapter 16 the Father revealed the Son to the disciples for the building of the church, which is the life pulse of the kingdom (vv. 16-19). In chapter 17 the Son entered into transfiguration (v. 2) and was confirmed by the Father’s word of delight (v. 5), bringing about a miniature display of the manifestation of the kingdom (16:28). Eventually, in the closing chapter, after Christ as the last Adam had passed through the process of crucifixion, entered into the realm of resurrection, and become the life-giving Spirit, He came back to His disciples in the atmosphere and reality of His resurrection to charge them to make the heathen the kingdom people by baptizing them into the name, the person, the reality, of the Divine Trinity. Later, in the Acts and the Epistles it is disclosed that to baptize people into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is to baptize them into the name of Christ (Acts 8:16; 19:5), and that to baptize them into the name of Christ is to baptize them into Christ the person (Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3), because Christ is the embodiment of the Triune God, and He, having become the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45), is available any time and in any place for people to be baptized into. According to Matthew, being baptized into the reality of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is for the constituting of the kingdom of the heavens. Unlike an earthly society, the heavenly kingdom cannot be formed with human beings of flesh and blood (1 Cor. 15:50); it can be constituted only with people who have been immersed into the union with the Triune God and who have been established and built up with the Triune God, who has been wrought into them.

Ameeen!!! The revelation of the divine Trinity is not merely for theological understanding or debate but for our experience!

For our experience and for the constituting of the kingdom, Matthew unveils the reality of the divine Trinity from its opening in chapter 1 to its closing in chapter 28.

The Triune God with all that He is, has, and He has done and will do, is our divine inheritance.

The Triune God is our eternal blessing and eternal portion. We have been joined, united, mingled with the Triune God.

He is being established, wrought, and built into our being for the constituting of the kingdom of the heaven.

Praise You Triune God for building us with Yourself to be the reality of the kingdom.

The heavenly Kingdom is constituted with those who are one with Christ as the seed of Abraham, for themselves to be sons of Abraham, who have received the all-inclusive Spirit, the ultimate consummation of the processed Triune God, believers who have been immersed into a union with the Triune God and built up with Him.

Praise the Lord through baptism into the Father-Son-Spirit we have been immersed into the Triune God for the constitution of the Kingdom!

Amen! Lord be wrought more into us today that we may be built up in the Triune God!

What a divine inheritance we received when we were baptised into the name, the person and the reality of the Triune God.

Our inheritance is God Himself with all that He has, all that He has done and all that He will do for His people.

The Holy Spirit is the pledge of this inheritance.

Oh Lord! Amen! Hallelujah!

His resurrection as the first-born son of God made us sons of God.

As long as we are sons of God, we have the right to inherit the triune God Himself with all that He has, all that He has done, and all that He Will do for His redeemed people.

God’s Kingdom is a sphere or a realm in which He exercises His authority. We, sons of God, are therefore citizens of God’s Kingdom living with the rules and regulations.

Praise the Lord for this wonderful opportunity from our king-saviour. Amen.
