With one mouth we are speaking the same thing as the one new man on the earth today

November 25, 2010 by aGodMan 1 Comment

There are some verses in the New Testament that puzzle or at least trouble most of us when we read them – verses that talk about “speaking the same thing”, “having the same mind”, “being attuned in the same mind and the same opinion”, “speaking with one mouth”, etc.

Especially in the age we live today every one, mainly in the more “developed” or “developing” countries, what people do every day is try to improve their being “unique”, being different, and “standing out from the crowd”.

But what we see that the Bible reveals is that in the Body of Christ and in the one new man we have only one speaking with one mouth, in one accord, speaking one thing! Here are these verses we were talking about:

Rom. 15:6 That with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Cor. 1:10 Now I beseech you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be attuned in the same mind and in the same opinion.
Eph. 2:15 Abolishing in His flesh the law of the commandments in ordinances, that He might create the two in Himself into one new man, so making peace,

How can this be? How can millions of believers speak the same thing with one mouth? Or even in a local church, how can there be one speaking and one mouth? Humanly speaking, this sounds impossible.

But we need to see that the church is not only the Body of Christ but also the one new man! As the Body of Christ, the church has Christ as life, and as the one new man, the church has Christ as the person. In the new man there’s only one person that speaks one thing with the one mouth.

We as believers are not just members one of another, but we are also those who take Christ as our person. We need to ask ourselves and resolve this basic yet very important question, Who is the person that is speaking here? Am I speaking or is it the Lord as my person speaking?

When Christ is our person, He speaks the same thing in us as He speaks in all His believers that take Him as their person.

When we speak individually and by / from ourselves, we speak our own things and we have many mouths – many times we ourselves speak contradictory things and we don’t agree with ourselves.

But in the Lord’s recovery, in what He desires to do and recover today, we are learning to take Christ not only as our life but also as our person, so that we may have the same mind, speak the same thing, and speak with one mouth!

We have to consider the “one mouth” in Rom. 15:6 and “speak the same thing” in 1 Cor. 1:10 together with the “one new man” in Eph. 2:15. It all makes sense now – we are the one new man that has Christ as its person, and this one new man has only one mouth and speaks the one thing!

As we take Christ as our person and allow Him to make His home in our heart, He becomes the One living and speaking in us! If all the saints in the church take Christ not only as their life (to be the Body of Christ, expressing Him) but also as their person, then God will have the one new man in reality – Christ as the Person is expressed freely, and He speaks freely!

[enjoyment from the One Body, One Spirit, and One New Man by bro. Witness Lee]

Amen, Lord, You are our life! We take You as our life and we also want to take You as our person! Lord, be the Person in us living, speaking, and being expressed! Save us from speaking our own things and living our own life apart from You! Help us and remind us to live in such an organic union with You – You being the Person living in us, and us living You out! Thank You Lord we are the Body of Christ and we also are the one new man!
