we need to enjoy our God as living water, even as the waters – come to Him to drink and flow!

April 14, 2011 by aGodMan 4 Comments

God’s desire is this – that we may come to Him and drink of Him as the fountain of living waters! Even at the end of a long feast, when supposedly the people who were feasting would be full and satisfied, Christ stood out and cried in John 7:37-38,

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes into Me, as the Scripture said, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.

Nothing else satisfies – only God as the living water satisfies us and fills us! His desire is to come to Him and drink of Him, and our need is also to come to God and drink of Him as the living waters!

When we drink of Him, there’s something going on in our being – there are rivers of water flowing in us! Whoever believes into the Lord – out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water!

Not just one river, but many rivers – the many flows of the different aspects of life, of the unique “river of water of life”. One river is the river of peace, and other rivers are joy, comfort, righteousness, life, holiness, love, patience, and humility. These rivers of living water flow out from the depths of our being.

This is Christ as life coming into us, flowing in our whole being, and flowing out of us as the many different aspects of the divine life. Based on His all-inclusive dynamic redemption (as described vividly in Isaiah chapter 53), God now calls us in Isaiah 55 to come and drink! Isaiah 55:1-2 says,

Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters, And you who have no money; Come, buy and eat; Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And the result of your labor for what does not satisfy? Hear Me attentively, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Our God may become our enjoyment through our continual drinking of Him! The dynamic redemption accomplished by Christ is the security not only to Israel but also to us, the seed (Isa. 53:10) – the church as the Body of the resurrected Christ!

Why would we go to other sources and waste our money / energy on other things when God as living water is free for us to take in? All we need to do is COME TO HIM! The price we pay to drink of God is open up and come to Him to enjoy Him!

When we open to Him, He as living water comes in, fills our being, and flows out of us as many rivers of living water! This is our normal Christian life – we drink of Him continually, and we flow Him out as the many rivers of water of life until we become the New Jerusalem!

In the New Jerusalem we will continue to drink of Him as the river of water of life and we will flow Him out to the nations by expressing Him and ruling over the nations for God! What a small price to pay for such a rich reality to be given to us and become ours!

[enjoyment from the crystallization-study of Isaiah(2) and the life-study of Isaiah(by brother Witness Lee); this article is continued from, God is the living waters for us to enjoy – drink God and flow out God!]

Lord, strengthen us to continually pay the price to come to You and enjoy You! We don’t want to waste any more of our time, energy, and money on something that does not satisfy! Lord, we want our soul to be satisfied in You! You are the fountain of living waters – we come to You to drink! Thank You for this gushing-up fountain in our spirit! The more we drink, the more we flow You out as the many rivers! Lord, Amen for the MANY RIVERS! Fill us continually, Lord, and flow out through us more and more!
