the unique goal of our Christian work should be the New Jerusalem; God’s goal is the New Jerusalem!

the unique goal of our Christian work should be the New Jerusalem; God's goal is the New Jerusalem! [image: Goal, via Imedia Network]What is the goal of our Christian life, and what is the goal of our Christian work?

Some Christians are fervently loving the Lord and preaching the gospel with the goal of winning souls to bring people to heaven. Other people establish Bible schools, training centres, and seminaries to teach sound doctrines and theology. Other believers pursue spirituality and a holy life with the purpose of living a holy spiritual life. Many other Christians don’t really know what is the purpose and the goal of their Christian work and living…

But according to the entire revelation of the New Testament, the unique goal of the Christian work should be the New Jerusalem, which is the ultimate goal of God’s eternal economy! God’s goal is the New Jerusalem – though He accomplished many things and did many works, His unique goal, as we see in Rev. 21-22, is the New Jerusalem!

In the beginning of the Bible we see God, a single God, and at the end of the Bible we see the New Jerusalem, a great corporate God!

Since today we are in the period of the degradation of the church, Satan is frustrating the believers – on the negative side – with sin, the world, and the flesh. But on the positive side, many positive, good, and proper things have become replacements for God’s eternal goal. Even good practices, good spiritual principles, and sound doctrines are the goal of many seeking and pursuing believers.

“The degradation of the church is mainly due to the fact that nearly all the Christian workers have been distracted to take many things other than the New Jerusalem as their goal. Hence, under the degradation of the church, to be the overcomers answering the Lord’s call, we need to overcome not only the negative things, but even more the positive things which replace the New Jerusalem as the goal.

An overcomer’s goal should be uniquely and consummately the goal of God’s eternal economy – the New Jerusalem! (quotes from, How to be a Co-Worker and an Elder and How to Fulfill Their Obligations, by bro. Witness Lee).

To overcome the degradation of the church today and to consummate the New Jerusalem we need to DRINK the Spirit and EAT Christ as the tree of life!

We need to daily drink the flowing God, the Spirit, as our river of water of life; we need to eat the overcoming Lion-Lamb as the tree of life to be our fresh and rich supply; and we need to take the Triune God as the essence, the element, and the way to build and consummate the New Jerusalem.

The way to consummate, bring in, and live out the New Jerusalem today is by eating Christ as the tree of life and drinking the Spirit as the river of water of life! In this way we adorn and consummate the New Jerusalem with God the Father as its golden base, God the Son as its pearl gates, and God the Spirit for its wall of precious stones.

Don’t do something according to what you think, your own will, or in your own way – take God’s goal as your goal! Eat and drink God to become God – to consummate the New Jerusalem! The goal of our Christian work and Christian living is the New Jerusalem! [sharing inspired from the HWMR on The Central Line of the Bible]

O, Lord, what is the goal of our Christian life? Lord, What is the goal of our Christian work? May Your goal become our goal! Save us from having our own goal apart from You, or from taking our own way and not Yours! Lord, our goal is the New Jerusalem, which is also Your goal! Keep us drinking the Spirit as the river of water of life! Keep us eating Christ as the tree of life to be our fresh and rich supply! We want to be those who live out and work out the New Jerusalem until we consummate in and as the New Jerusalem!
