staying in the divine romance to become the victory of the overcoming Christ

staying in the divine romance to become the victory of the overcoming Christ

“The mighty ones” (in Joel 3:11) are produced in the divine romance – just stay with the Beloved, love Him, let Him love you, and you will be produced as a mighty one, an overcomer! Our beloved Lord Jesus is the Mighty One, and His love prevails, His love will break through in us!

If you read Song of Songs you will see that, as lovers of the Lord, we will become from a horse to a lily, a dove, a pillar, a garden, heavenly bodies, a city, an army, and eventually to the Shulamite, the complete reproduction of Christ.

May nothing interfere with our steady developing romance with the Lord – stay here, loving Him, and you will be produced as an overcomer, one who is victorious and even is the victory of the overcoming Christ!

Only LOVERS can be MIGHTY

John Newton, a slave trader and a captain of a slave-trade ship, was a rebellious person, fully defying God and even speaking evil against Him. But one day God’s mercy and His grace reached out to him, and he could not resist God’s love. Who can stand against God’s love?

We need to let Him love us, allow Him to open the gates of His being and pour out His love into our being to conquer our whole being. When we love the Lord with this kind of a love which He pours out into us, we become His true lovers and we are the mighty ones, the overcomers!

Only lovers can be mighty – because we love Him, we are one of the 60 mighty men of war guarding Christ’s bed in Song of Songs 3:7-8. By being the lovers of Christ we allow Him to conquer us with His love and we become one with Him in fighting His enemy! Love and war, what an interesting yet real combination!

The overcomers are the victory of Christ

The mighty ones, the overcomers, are the victory of the overcoming Christ (see Song of Songs 3:7-8).

In the age of the church (the night) during the the time of spiritual warfare (the 60 mighty men) Christ is the overcoming one resting on the bed, and we as His lovers are among His mighty men guarding Him.

We are being empowered with the might of His strength to become full of power and carry Christ even in times of difficulties. It is Christ who is victorious, but we as His mighty ones are His victory and carry Him in victory!

We can do this only in Christ, not in ourselves. In Christ we are being made experts in war, fighting with our weapons in the time of alarms (see 2 Cor. 10:3-5; Eph. 6:10-12; 1 Tim. 1:18; 2 Tim. 4:7).

Hallelujah! We become experts in war by learning to apply the blood of Christ and defeat the enemy. We become experts in war by not loving our soul-life even unto death, but testifying with the word of our testimony! By the blood of Christ the Victor we overcome the enemy!

Our beauty is the submissive will

What God sees in us as beautiful is our submissive will. Our natural will is rebellious and not submissive, but as we remain in the divine romance loving the Lord, His love and His live spreads into all our inner being to fill us and occupy us.

He saturates our mind and renews it, making it the mind of Christ. He invades our emotions and subdues them, attunes them, and makes them so balanced yet fervent for Him. But His goal is to gain our will, to have our will being submissive to Him.

“Your neck is like the tower of David” (Song of Songs 4:4) – our will is strong, yet submissive to God. Our strength comes from our submission to Christ.

The more we allow the Lord to make our will submissive to Him, the more we are delivered from anything of the enemy and we become strong, with a lot of weapons for war ready for defense.

A will subdued and in resurrection

There’s a spiritual warfare going on, and our submissive will is the key – God wants to gain our will, and Satan does his best to trick us and deceive us to choose him and his kingdom of darkness.

But if we learn to allow the Lord to subdue our will and make it submissive to Him, we will become beautiful to the Lord and terrifying to the enemy! To the Lord we become lovely, and to the enemy we are frightening!

When we exercise our spirit with our submissive will, all the weapons for war are here. “Your neck is like the tower of David, / Built for an armory: / A thousand bucklers hang on it, / All the shields of the mighty men” (Song of Songs 4:4).

The weapons for the spiritual warfare are kept in our subdued will, the will which passed through death and is now in resurrection, submissive to God (Eph. 6:10; 2 Cor. 10:3-5).

Saints, our natural will needs to be dealt with and we need to allow the Lord to subdue us – Lord, never let us win, defeat us all the time! As our will is subdued, it will be in resurrection like the tower of David built up as an armory – we are ready for war!

Lord Jesus, have a way in us. We just want to open to You. Keep us in the divine romance for the rest of our life. Lord, advance in us. Break through in us. Never let us win, Lord, but defeat us all the time. Have a way to subdue our will and make it submissive to You. Lord, we choose You right now. We choose to apply the blood of the overcoming Lamb of God!

The Bible is consistent–the lovers become the fighters, the mighty ones. From the lover as Solomon's bed being among the 60 mighty men to the army in revelation being the bride in fine linen, the lovers are the fighters. Lord keep us in the divine romance that we may be fit to be your fighting army."
