Receiving God’s Word in the Morning by Exercising our whole being to Pray-read!

July 26, 2017 by Guest God-man Blogger Leave a Comment

2 Peter 1:3-4 Seeing that His divine power has granted to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the full knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and virtue, Through which He has granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption which is in the world by lust.2 Peter 1:3-4, “Seeing that His divine power has granted to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the full knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and virtue, Through which He has granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption which is in the world by lust.”

Morning revival is to be revived in our spirit through a solid and definite touch of the Lord first thing in the morning. There are many wonderful ways to touch the Lord in our spirit, but what I have found to be my top, sure, and unchanging practice is pray-reading the word of God.

What has greatly helped me in my spending time with the Lord in the morning is the realization that when I touch Him I receive the virtue that contains “all things which relate to life and godliness”, that is everything I need to express Christ in my daily living.

Virtue is the energy of life that enables us to overcome all obstacles and to carry out all excellent attributes. The way we receive this virtue is through the “precious and exceedingly great promises” given to us in the word of God. The best way to receive the word of God is through pray-reading.

Pray-reading requires our practice and learning. In my experience, the most enjoyable times of pray-reading have been the times where I am exercising my whole being. For sure, we must exercise our spirit by calling on the Lord’s name and mixing the Lord’s name with our prayer. We must also exercise our mind to consider and appreciate the words of the verse we are pray-reading.

Then what has also helped me is to even be engaged physically by standing, walking, or using some sort of motion to help exercise and release my spirit. Especially in the morning when I may feel quite tired or groggy, the physical activity helps me be more alert and focused on the Lord and the word of God rather than zoning in and out of consciousness.

This all may sound quite technical, but the difference can be astounding. I can pray-read the same verse in a more calm and quiet way in bed, but not enjoy it or draw out as much meaning from the same verse as when I pray-read it standing up using my arms in the backyard!

Of course, these are just small adjustments to help us while we are still learning to spend time with the Lord.

I can testify that the more I pray-read in the morning, the more I subconsciously and sometimes even consciously experience the virtue of the divine life that strengthens me throughout the rest of my day.

It becomes the Lord’s supply and virtue that gets me through difficult situations, temptations, lets me know what to say and how to be, and keeps me walking according to my spirit to a greater degree day by day. There is still much to learn, but pray-reading has really revolutionized my experience of morning revival.

Using pray-reading as a base, the Lord may lead us to sing, intercede for others, thank Him, confess our sins, etc. We do not want to limit the Lord in our times with Him, but pray-reading is a wonderful way to start to eat and drink the Lord, fellowship with Him, and pray according to God’s own words.
