out of the mouths of babes and sucklings You have established praise – to stop Your enemy!

Praise the Lord! Praaaaaiseee the Loooooord! This morning I was so encouraged to come to the Lord again and ask Him, Lord, make me a babe and a suckling, one who is weak and depending on Your, yet who praises You to stop and defeat Your enemy!

After seeing that God’s desire is to recover a corporate man who expresses Him with His image and represents Him with His dominion, in the second verse of Psalm 8 we read, Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to stop the enemy and the avenger. This verse was also quoted by the Lord Jesus in Matt. 21:16, where He said, And Jesus said to them, Yes. Have you never read, “Out of the mouth of infants and sucklings You have perfected praise”?  

There are three types of people that are stopped/stilled by our praise as babes and sucklings: the adversary (who is within), the enemy (without), and the avenger(running to and fro to avenge).

Satan is the adversary within God’s kingdom, he is the enemy without, and he runs about in the world to avenge and kill men! The way God deals with this person is in a consummate way – He establishes His praises out of the mouths of babes and sucklings! These young ones, even infants, they are the smallest and the weakest ones – babes are a bit stronger / older than the sucklings, but they are still young and weak.

The Lord Jesus told His disciples in Matt. 18:3, Truly I say to you, Unless you turn and become like little children, you shall by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens!

Also, He said in Matt. 19:14, Allow the little children and do not prevent them from coming to Me, for of such is the kingdom of the heavens. For us to enter into and participate in the kingdom of the heavens, we need to be like little children – we need to be simplified and become younger!

The truth is that we may rather want to be “strong warriors” for God, but God wants us to be the babes and sucklings. Even if we are advanced in age and in the Lord, we need to be like the babes and sucklings – the more you advance in the Lord, the “less old you become” and “the younger you are”, until you fully become a babe and a suckling!

Out of the mouths of such babes and sucklings, the Lord is establishing strength – He is perfecting our praise! In themselves, the weaker ones cannot praise – they can rather cry or weep, but not praise… When we argue, gossip, joke about, etc – we don’t need much strength for that. But without strength, we cannot praise the Lord!

The Lord wants to strengthen us within for us to be like babes and sucklings and praise the Lord so that He may defeat the enemy, the avenger, and the adversary! Our praise is not yet perfect – we need the Lord’s strengthening, simplifying, and growing in us to make us like babes and sucklings!

When you praise the Lord, you kill the adversary within, the enemy without, and the avenger running to and fro – three enemies with one stone! Satan walks about as a roaring lion, and what keeps him away from devouring us is our praising the Lord hour by hour, even continually! In Matt. 11:25 we see that the Lord has hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and has revealed them to the infants and babes.

Lord, make us those who are like babes and sucklings! Save us from being “wise and intelligent” yet old and not young in Your praise! Perfect our praise, Lord, that You may defeat Your enemy and stop the avenger and the adversary! Simplify us, Lord, and make us the babes and sucklings who praise You! Praise the Lord! Recover our praise Lord, and even perfect our praise! We want to be young, fresh, open to Your enlightening and instructing. Praise the Lord!
