Our Spirit is a Mingled Spirit, and we need to Walk According to the Spirit daily

Rom. 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has freed me in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and of death. For the inward recovery of His people, God gives us a new heart and a new spirit, and He also puts His Spirit within us; now our spirit is a mingled spirit, and we can and should daily walk according to the spirit.

First, in order for Him to come into us, He gives us a new heart, a heart that is soft, pure, loving, and at peace; with our new heart we love the Lord, seek Him in purity, and are at peace with Him.

This opens the way for us to not only love Him and open to Him in love, but also receive Him, that is, have a new spirit to receive and contact Him (Ezek. 36:26; John 4:24). Our God is Spirit, and for us to contact Him and worship Him, we need to exercise our human spirit.

When God created us, He didn’t only create the heavens for the earth and the earth for man, but He put a spirit in man – now we have a human spirit to contact God, receive God, and live God (Zech. 13:1).

Through regeneration we receive a new heart and a new spirit; for us to have a new spirit means that our old, deadened spirit has been enlivened through regeneration. Praise the Lord for our human spirit, the beachhead for God to bring in His kingdom in us and on the earth!

The human spirit is the key to God’s economy, for everything God is and does can be seen, apprehended, enjoyed, and realized in spirit.

However, in his subtlety Satan has hidden the matter of the human spirit from most Christians, and when you speak of the human spirit, many times they think you speak of their soul or of the Holy Spirit.

Because of Satan’s blinding work and his confusing teachings that pervade Christianity today, the human spirit is totally overlooked, and God’s economy is delayed in so many ways.

But we today in the church life in the Lord’s recovery need to know, treasure, and exercise our spirit, maintaining the newness of the spirit by continually exercising our spirit! We need to be spirit-exercising people, people who live in spirit, walk according to the spirit, and do everything by the spirit.

May we be those who daily call on the name of the Lord, pray-read His word, always rejoice, pray unceasingly, give thanks in everything, fan our spirit into flame, not quench the Spirit, and practice prophesying by exercising our spirit!

God put His Spirit within us – now our Spirit is a Mingled Spirit, and we are One Spirit with the Lord

Ezek. 36:27 And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and My ordinances you shall keep and do.God promises that He will put His Spirit within us and will cause us to walk in His statuses, and His ordinances we shall keep and do (Ezek. 36:27).

In order for God to inwardly recover us, His people, He gives us not only a new heart and a new spirit (v. 26) but He also puts His own Spirit within us, in our spirit; now our human spirit and the divine Spirit are mingled together as one spirit (Rom. 8:9, 16), and we are one spirit with the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17).

God created us with a human spirit, which is the breath of God – something similar to God, but not containing God’s life; through regeneration, our human spirit is revived, renewed, and made alive, and the divine Spirit enters into our spirit.

We should not neglect our spirit, because our spirit is the vessel which contains the divine Spirit. When we speak of the “our spirit” many believers may think of the Holy Spirit, not considering the importance of man having a human spirit. Yes, we need the Holy Spirit, but we need to realize that the Holy Spirit is in our regenerated human spirit.

Romans 8:16 emphatically says, The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit, and in 1 Cor. 6:17 Paul tells us, He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

As believers in Christ we have a mingled spirit – God the Spirit has entered into our spirit to mingle Himself with our spirit and become one spirit, the mingled spirit. Now the Holy Spirit is within our spirit, strengthening us all the time, enabling us to live God and be one spirit with God.

For the inward recovery of His people, God not only gives us a new heart and a new spirit (v. 26) but also puts His Spirit within us, in our spirit, making the two spirits one mingled spirit (Rom. 8:9, 16) and causing us to be one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17). Crystallization-Study of Ezekiel, outline 12Our spirit is the habitation of God (2 Tim. 4:22; Rom. 8:11; Eph. 2:22); our spirit contains God – it is the organ to contact God and the container to receive and contain God.

We human beings are vessels to God, containers to contain God as our contents (Rom. 9:21-23); today God is embodied in Christ and realized as the Spirit, and this Spirit is in our spirit.

Our human spirit has been enlivened, energized, and reinforced through regeneration, because something stronger and richer has been added to our being. All the heavenly things and all of God’s riches are included in God’s life and His Spirit, which have been added to our spirit.

Therefore, the mingled spirit – our human spirit with the divine Spirit – is the key to God’s organic salvation.

The secret to God’s saving us in life is the mingled spirit; whenever we turn to our spirit, exercise our spirit, and live according to the spirit, we are saved much more in God’s life, and God’s economy becomes a reality to us.

Praise the Lord, we have a regenerated and reinforced spirit, a very strong spirit – our mingled spirit, and we are one spirit with the Lord!

Thank You Lord for being the Spirit with our spirit, witnessing that we are children of God. Thank You for coming into us as the Spirit to mingle Yourself with us and live in our mingled spirit. Thank You, Lord, for reinforcing and strengthening our spirit by coming into us through regeneration. Hallelujah, now all of God’s riches are available to us in spirit! We have an enriched spirit, a strong spirit, and a reinforced spirit – our mingled spirit! Amen, Lord, may we live in spirit, walk according to the spirit, and set our mind on the spirit all throughout the day!

The Righteous Requirement of the Law is Fulfilled in us who Walk According to the Spirit

Rom. 8:4 That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit.God’s Spirit is in us, and this Spirit contains God’s nature; God’s nature corresponds to God’s law, so when we walk according to the spirit, the righteous requirement of the law is spontaneously fulfilled in us (Rom. 8:4).

Because we have God’s nature within us (see 2 Pet. 1:4), we believers in Christ are able to keep the law of God spontaneously by walking according to our regenerated spirit, which is indwelt by the Holy Spirit (see Rom. 8:4; Gal. 5:16, 22-23, 25).

Who can keep God’s law? Who can fulfill God’s righteous, holy, and glorious requirements? It is only God Himself who can fulfill His law, and only He can live out what He demands from us.

We should not be like the Israelites of old and say, Whatever the Lord said, we will do! but we should be those who turn to the Lord and tell Him,

Lord, fill me now with Your Spirit! Only Your Spirit contains Your nature, which corresponds to Your law! Only by living in the mingled spirit can we keep the law of God!

God’s commandments are according to His nature; He requires that we are holy, righteous, full of life and light, and expressing Him in His glory – to be just like Him. Praise the Lord, in our spirit we have the divine nature of God, for His Spirit is with our spirit!

It is easy for us to keep God’s law and fulfill His requirements – for we now can live according to the spirit, and the Lord will live in us and be expressed through us!

Whenever we live in ourselves, we cannot love anyone else but ourselves; but when we turn to our spirit, set our mind on the spirit, and walk according to the spirit, we can love others, and the Lord will fulfill in us the righteous requirements of God’s law.

Today in the New Testament age there is one unique commandment: that we walk according to the spirit, live by the spirit, and set our mind on the spirit.

Furthermore, in Rom. 8:2 we see that the law of the Spirit of life has freed us in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and of death; in the Spirit with our spirit there’s an innate law that automatically operates whenever we fulfill its conditions, and the law of the Spirit of life delivers us from the law of sin and of death.

God’s commandments are according to His nature, and we have the nature of God within us because we have His Spirit within us. Now there is something within us that corresponds to God’s law. God’s Spirit within us contains God’s nature, and God’s nature corresponds to God’s law. Because we have God’s nature within us, it is easy for us to keep His law. Formerly it was difficult for us to love others, but now it is easy to love others and difficult to hate them because we have a new nature, God’s nature, within us. Life-study of Ezekiel, p. 196, by Witness LeeWhen it comes to dealing with sin, we are much weaker than Satan, the one who holds the power of sin; it is just like the law of gravity: if we want to fly, we can’t – simply because the law of gravity. But if we activate the law of aerodynamics and get in a plane and stay there, we don’t have to worry about flying – we simply defeat the law of gravity and we fly spontaneously and automatically.

How can we defeat sin and at the same time fulfill God’s requirements? It is by living and walking according to the spirit; when we walk according to the spirit, the power of sin is broken, and the righteous requirement of the law is automatically and spontaneously fulfilled in us.

The Spirit within us, once we live and walk according to the mingled spirit, spontaneously fulfills all the righteous requirements of the law through us, as we walk according to Him. Hallelujah!

We shouldn’t try to keep the law or defeat the power of sin: we should simply walk in the spirit, and the automatic innate law of the Spirit of life will deliver us from the law of sin and of death, and the righteous requirements of the law will be fulfilled in us spontaneously.

Thank You Lord for putting Your Spirit in our spirit; now in our spirit we have the nature of God with the life of God, and we can fulfill the law of God! Amen! Lord, we want to be those turning to the spirit, setting our mind on the spirit, living in spirit, and walking according to the spirit, so that the righteous requirements of the law may spontaneously be fulfilled in us! Thank You Lord for causing us to walk in Your statuses and for guiding us on the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake, as we walk according to the spirit! We want to learn the key, the secret to Your organic salvation: the Spirit with our spirit!

The law of the Spirit of life is the subject of Romans 8….Life is the content and issue of the Spirit, and the Spirit is the ultimate and consummate manifestation of the Triune God after His being processed through incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection and becoming the indwelling, life-giving Spirit, who is life to all the believers in Christ. The law that has freed us from the law of sin [Rom. 8:2], which is of Satan, who dwells in the members of our fallen body (7:23, 17), is of this Spirit of life. It is this law, not God nor the Spirit, that works in us to deliver us from the working of the law of sin in our flesh and to enable us to know God and gain God and thereby live Him out. This law of the Spirit of life is the spontaneous power of the Spirit of life. Such a spontaneous law works automatically under the condition that fulfills its requirements. (Rom. 8:2, footnote 1, Recovery Version Bible)
