God’s Goal and our Goal in the Lord’s Recovery is to Bring Forth the One New Man

Eph. 4:22-23 That you put off, as regards your former manner of life, the old man, which is being corrupted according to the lusts of the deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind. The goal of the Lord’s recovery and the unique goal of God in this age is to bring forth the one new man who fulfills God’s purpose to express God and represent Him.

This is God’s goal from eternity to eternity related to man, and when He gains a corporate new man that expressed Him with His image and represents Him with His dominion, He can end this age and bring the kingdom of God on the earth.

If this is God’s goal, if this is what He is after, then what should our goal be? We need to give ourselves to be one with the Lord for the bringing forth of the one new man by taking Christ as our life and as our person, so that we may be the one new man that He desires to obtain.

In the one new man Christ is all and in all, which means that Christ is the unique constituent of the one new man. The one new man is actually Christ constituted into us. The more we have Christ wrought into us and constituted into our being, the more we are in reality the one new man.

The Christ who indwells us is the constituent of the one new man.

How can Christ be constituted into us? How can Christ work Himself into us so that He may be the unique constituent and person of the one new man? It is by our enjoyment and experience of Christ day by day, by our enjoyment and experience of the all-inclusive Christ in our daily living.

The only way to become constituted and filled with Christ is to enjoy Christ, experience Christ, and eat and drink Christ so that He may be wrought into our being.

When we call on the name of the Lord, we breathe the Lord in. When we pray and fellowship with the Lord, opening to Him and listening to Him, we are infused with His element. When we pray-read the Word of God and open our entire being to Him, we allow the Lord to make His home in our heart and to work Himself into us a little more.

When we take Christ as our life and our person, when we let Him be the decider and umpire in our being, letting Him have the final word and make the decisions, we enter into the reality of the one new man.

As we all enjoy Christ and experience Christ, He is being wrought into us, He is making His home in our heart, and He becomes the unique person living in us. The one new man is the Christ constituted into us who lives in us and is our person for the church as the one new man.

When we experience and enjoy Christ, He becomes all and in all in the one new man. When Christ is all and in all, He is all the members and in all the members, and there is no distinction or difference between us.

The world today encourages us to embrace and stand with our differences, for these set us apart, but as we experience Christ and take Him as our person in our daily living, we will be one with all the saints, and the church as the one new man can be expressed practically.

The one new man is not the gathering of many different kinds of people, who seek to have an outward ecumenical oneness. The one new man is the Christ who is constituted in us, it is the corporate God-man, the aggregate of all the God-men who live Christ and express Him in their daily living.

God’s Goal and our Goal in the Lord’s Recovery is to Bring Forth the One New Man

Col. 3:4, 10-11 v. 4 When Christ our life is manifested, then you also will be manifested with Him in glory. v. 10 And have put on the new man, which is being renewed unto full knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, v. 11 Where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all and in all. Some believers may be very happy that the gospel was preached to the whole inhabited earth, reaching every corner of the earth; but the Lord has still not yet come. What God wants to gain is not merely many believers in Christ who are saved and have His divine life, but a corporate one new man.

God’s goal is to bring forth the one new man, a corporate God-man who expresses Him and represents Him. God’s goal is not that the gospel would be preached to every corner of the earth; His goal is to have the new man.

The old man has failed God, so He created the one new man in Christ on the cross, and now He wants to bring forth the one new man where Christ is the life and person. The new man replaces the old man; we are born in the old man, but we need to let Christ constitute us until we become part of the one new man.

The new man is constituted with people from every tribe and nation who take Christ as their life and person.

This is what the Lord is doing today: He is raising up His believers throughout the world, in country after country, to seek Him and run after Him; when these pursue the Lord, they will see that He wants to gain a corporate new man to express Him and represent Him.

This one new man is not a movement or something of organization; the one new man is not an ecumenical movement among the many denominations today, neither is it an organization that tries to bring different believers together.

Rather, the one new man whom God wants to gain is a corporate God-man, the aggregate of all the God-men who take Christ as their life and as their person, and in this one new man Christ is all and in all.

There’s no place for anyone in this new man – there’s no place for Jews, Greeks, those circumcised, those uncircumcised, slaves, barbarians, Scythian, or free men – in this new man there’s place only for Christ (Col. 3:11).

Therefore, we all must take Christ as our life and as our person, and we need to be one with God to bring forth the one new man. God’s goal should also be our goal today in the Lord’s recovery.

God’s goal is to bring forth the one new man with Christ as its life and person; the goal of the Lord’s recovery is also to bring forth and even become the one new man. In the Lord’s recovery we are not here for a movement or an organization; we are here to see what the Lord is doing and what His goal is.

What God has been doing and what He is doing today is bringing forth the one new man with Christ as the life and person.

Have we seen this? This is what the Lord is doing in His ultimate recovery.

On the one hand we all live in the church life and practice living Christ, begetting new believers, nourishing the new ones, perfecting the saints, and building up the church by prophesying, and we all learn to serve in coordination with the saints.

On the other hand, our goal should be God’s goal, which is to bring forth the one new man, and all the activities we do in the church life should be for the bringing forth of the one new man, a corporate man that has Christ as the life, person, and constituent.

Lord, may Your goal be our goal. We want to be one with You for the bringing forth of the one new man with Christ as the life, person, and constituent. We are not here for an ecumenical movement or for any organization – we are here for God to bring forth the one new man that expresses Him and represents Him on earth. Lord, we take You as our life and person. We allow You to make Your home in our heart, arbitrate in our heart, and dwell in us richly as the word of God. Amen, Lord, gain the one new man!

The One New Man will Usher in the Kingdom of God and will Bring Christ Back to the Earth

The Lord wants to show Satan that He can produce and bring forth the one new man out of every tongue and people from among the nations; this is not an outward movement—it is Christ Himself within us as our life, person, and constituent (Rev. 5:9-10; Eph. 3:17; Col. 3:4, 10-11). The one new man will usher in the kingdom of God and will bring Christ, the King, back to the earth (Rev. 11:15). Witness LeeThrough the church God wants to make known His manifold wisdom, His multifarious wisdom, by not only redeeming and regenerating the fallen human beings, but by making them into one new man that fulfills God’s original purpose in creating man.

The Lord is after this one new man, and He wants to bring forth the one new man. We need to see the age that we live in and what the Lord is doing in this age.

Satan damaged man and got into man as sin; then, as seen in Gen. 11, he scattered man all over the earth based on language. The enemy didn’t just make us sinners but he also divided us and scattered us.

Today the redemption of Christ deals not only with the problem of our sin but also with our scattering; Christ is bringing us together into one Body and one new man.

Christ wants to boast to His enemy, Satan, of how He gained the one new man out of the people whom the enemy damaged but He regenerated, put them together, and made them into one new man who has one heart and one mouth, speaking the same thing, and having one person.

The one new man that God wants to gain is not just many races and cultures coming together, but the believers taking Christ as the life and person and being one, speaking the same thing, and having the same mind and heart.

This is not something outward, a movement or organization, but a living – we all are living Christ, we are God-men living the God-man life, and the aggregate of all the God-men is the one new man.

All the fullness of God is embodied in Christ, and this Christ is wrought into our being to be our righteousness, our holiness, our love, and our light. This is the new man with the new man’s expression. Such a new man with such an expression will usher in the kingdom of God and will bring Christ, the King, back to this earth. The goal of the Lord’s recovery is to become such a new man, which is the very expression of God. Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1977, vol. 3, The One New Man, p. 501This is not an outward teaching or an outward movement, but Christ Himself within us as life and person; we all receive Christ, we grow up into Him in all things, and the whole Body is joined and knit together out from Him.

We all need to grow up into Christ in all things, and we will come out from Him; then we will be completely in Christ and not in ourselves, and it will be easy to be joined and knit together.

We all must grow up into Christ in all things, let Him grow in us, and do everything in oneness with Him and out from Him, and we will bring forth the one new man. This one new man is what God is after, and this one new man will usher in the kingdom of God and will bring Christ, the king, back to this earth.

When God gains a group of people who take Christ as their life and person and who express Christ, live Christ, and manifest Christ in oneness, then Christ will return.

The goal of the Lord’s recovery is to bring forth the one new man, which is the very expression of God. The one new man will bring Christ back to earth, and will usher in the kingdom of God.

Lord Jesus, You are our life and You are our person. You regenerated us, and You are inwardly reconstituting us to become all and in all in the one new man. We want to grow up into Christ in all things and do everything in Christ, with Christ, and out from Christ, so that You may bring forth the one new man. Amen, Lord, work Yourself into us to be our righteousness, holiness, love, and light. May You gain the one new man that will usher in the kingdom of God and will bring Christ, the King, back to this earth!

At this end time the Lord is going to bring forth the new man. The Lord today is going to raise up His believers throughout all the world, in so many countries, to seek after Him. When we seek after Him, we will see that what He wants is such a new man.

The new man is not a movement, such as the ecumenical movement, and is not an organization but a man. As a man, the new man must have life, and he must have a person. The life of this new man must be Christ, and the person of this new man must also be Christ. In this new man there is no place for anyone else. The Jew, the Greek, the circumcised, the uncircumcised, the barbarian, the Scythian, the slave, and the free man all have no place, but Christ is all and in all (Col. 3:11). For one to say that Christ is his life and Christ is his person is not good enough. We must say in the plural that Christ is our life and Christ is our person. The Lord’s recovery is here to bring forth the new man. In the Lord’s recovery the Lord does not care for a movement or an organization. What He has been doing, and what He is now doing, is bringing forth the new man with Himself as the life and person. (Collected Works Witness Lee, 1977, vol. 3, “The One New Man,” p. 497)
