God called us into the fellowship of His son – the enjoyment of the all-inclusive Christ!

December 13, 2010 by aGodMan Leave a Comment

God called us into the fellowship of His son - the enjoyment of the all-inclusive Christ! This morning I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful verse that describes what God’s intention towards us is – 1 Cor. 1:9,

God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

God called us into the fellowship of His Son – He called us to enjoy and partake of His Son, Jesus Christ, the all-inclusive One! We have been invited to a feast, where Christ as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit, as the consummation of the processed Triune God, is being served to us as dish after dish for our enjoyment!

Our Christian life and our church life are actually a life of feasting upon the riches of what Christ is to us! We eat of Him personally, and we also eat of Him corporately with the saints – we feast on Christ. Here at the feast we are enjoying course after course… here we have the entire Triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

It is the fellowship of the incarnated, crucified, and resurrected Christ, the One who in resurrection is the life-giving Spirit – this One is our feast, and this feast is the fellowship! As those who have been called into this fellowship, we are now enjoying Christ by feasting on Him!

Furthermore, we have communion / common participation and enjoyment fo what Christ is by feasting on Him together!

What is Christ to us? Is He everything to us? Did we see how many things He can be to us? Did we really experience Him in such a detailed way to realize that He is the reality of all the positive things in the universe? I love the footnote to this verse in the Recovery Version, which says,

This book unveils to us that the very Christ, into whom we all have been called, is all-inclusive. He is the portion given to us by God (v. 2). He is God’s power and God’s wisdom as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption to us (vv. 24, 30). He is the Lord of glory (2:8) for our glorification (2:7; Rom. 8:30). He is the depths (deep things) of God (2:10). He is the unique foundation of God’s building (3:11). He is our Passover (5:7), the unleavened bread (5:8), the spiritual food, the spiritual drink, and the spiritual rock (10:3-4). He is the Head (11:3) and the Body (12:12). He is the firstfruits (15:20, 23), the second man (15:47), and the last Adam (15:45); and as such He became the life-giving Spirit (15:45) that we may receive Him into us as our everything. This all-inclusive One, with the riches of at least twenty items, God has given to us as our portion for our enjoyment. We should concentrate on Him, not on any persons, things, or matters other than Him. We should focus on Him as our unique center appointed by God, that all the problems among the believers may be solved. It is into the fellowship of such a One that we have been called by God. This fellowship of God’s Son became the fellowship that the apostles shared with the believers (Acts 2:42; 1 John 1:3) in His Body, the church, and should be the fellowship that we enjoy in partaking of His blood and His body at His table (10:16, 21). Such a fellowship, which is carried out by the Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14), must be unique because He is unique; it forbids any division among the members of His unique Body.

So then all we need to do is enjoy Christ! To God, Christ is everything – as for us, we need to forget about anything and anyone else and just focus on Him, enjoy Him, and feast on Him!

Christ is the unique center appointed by God, and He is becoming our everything every day as we enjoy Him! God called us into this enjoyment, and even when we have issues and problems – all we need to do is enjoy the Lord!

Lord, keep us enjoying You! Thank You for being such an all-inclusive One! We want to know You as such a One and experience You every day! Lord, You are the center and the focus – we simply leave anything else aside that we may concentrate on You! We love feasting on all that You are, Lord – You are our real food, drink, supply, and satisfaction! Keep us enjoying You today!
