Christ is the Servant of God, and we are saved to serve(we are all serving ones!)

There is so much about this wonderful Person, Christ! We can never exhaust speaking about Him, appreciating Him, and enjoying Him!

This morning I was freshly impressed with the fact that Christ is the Servant of Jehovah – He was the Servant of Jehovah in eternity past, He became the Servant of Jehovah in humanity, and forever He will be the Servant of Jehovah!

There are some specific places in the Bible where we see this being stated:

• Christ is the Servant of Jehovah in His incarnation – in Phil. 2:7 we see that He emptied Himself, He took the form of a slave. In His incarnation, Christ was the Servant of Jehovah – He didn’t come as “GOD”, but He came as a slave…
• Christ is the Servant of God in His temptation – when Satan came to tempt Him, He clearly said, You should worship God and Him only shall you serve! Even while being tempted by the enemy, the Lord took the position of a servant of God…
• Christ is the Servant of God in His ministry – according to Mark 10:45 we see that Christ came not to BE SERVED but TO SERVE – He came to lay even His soul-life down for us, that He may serve us. His ministry was to serve humanity and serve God.
• Christ is the Servant of God before His departure from earth – in John 20 we see that even before He was about to be crucified, He girded Himself and washed the disciples’ feet. He loved the disciples to the end by serving them, washing their feet…
• Christ is the Servant of God in His resurrection – in Acts 3:13 we see that God will glorify His Servant in His resurrection. Even in His resurrection, Christ was the servant of Jehovah, and God glorified Him!
• Christ will be the Servant of God in the kingdom – According to Luke 12:37, even in the kingdom age Christ will gird Himself and He will serve us! Even at the wedding feast, in the age of the millennium, He still will serve us!

In so many other portions in the Bible we see that Christ is the Servant all the way in incarnation, in His ministry, at the end of His ministry, in His resurrection, and even in His kingdom! He is the Servant of Jehovah and He is serving us also – and today He is making us such ones, the same as He is!

By regenerating us, we become the extension of His days, His continuation and His reproduction – we all are servants of Jehovah! After we are saved, the Bible clearly tells us that we are serving God! We are saved to serve! Here are some examples from the Bible:

• Peter’s mom – she was healed/saved, and as soon as this happened, she rose up and served them! Salvation brings us into service, and we are saved to serve!
• 1 Thes. 1:9 – we have turned from the idols to serve the living God! Why have we been saved from the idols? So that we may serve NOT the idols anymore, but serve the true and living God!
• In Matthew 6:24 we see that No One Can Serve Two Masters – we either serve God or serve mammon (money, the god of this age). We are not “independent” or “neutral” – we are serving either our stomach / mammon / the world or we are serving God!
• The good Samaritan – the Lord Jesus is our “neighbour” that finds us by the way, robbed and beaten up, and He serves us… later in the same place we see Mary and Martha serving the Lord and the disciples.
• In Luke 15, the Triune God (the seeking Spirit, the Good Shepherd, and the awaiting Father) is serving us to bring us back to Himself; later in the book we see the parable about the prudent slave – we are served by the Triune God so that we may serve God and serve others prudently.
• Zaccheus – Luke 19 – was dynamically saved by the Lord through His simple word, Today I am coming to your house! After he was saved, he served the Lord – he laid out a feast and invited all his friends, and he gave up “all he had” for the Lord… later in the chapter we see that dynamic salvation brings us to be good slaves of God(the parable of the servants and the 10 minas).

These are just some of the many examples the Bible gives us to show us that we are saved to serve! It’s impossible to be saved and not to serve God and His people. As many as have left Egypt in the Old Testament have served the Lord!

We left the world, we believed in God, and now we serve God! Especially in the Lord’s recovery, we all are serving ones – we all serve! Of course, we serve in different capacities, in different areas: some serve full time, others serve in speaking for the Lord, others serve the Lord in their job, others serve the Lord in their profession, etc.

Wherever we are and whatever we do, whether we’re in school, university, serving full time, being at home with the family, or having a job – we are a witness of Christ, we serve God, by declaring that IT IS NO LONGER I BUT CHRIST!

We serve not ourselves, not our family, not our future, not our career, and certainly not mammon – we serve the living God! Yes, some may serve in giving a word of instruction, in giving a message and opening the Word, in edifying others – but we all can serve and should serve in whatever capacity the Lord has endowed us with! Hallelujah, we are saved to serve!

Thank You Lord for saving us! Thank You Lord for serving us! Reproduce Yourself in us, Lord! Make us servants of God just as You are the Servant of God! Save us, Lord, from not serving You! Expose us in so many things where we serve mammon…. may we be saved to the extent that wherever we are and whatever we do, we serve God! Lord, we are here as saved people that we may serve You! We love You, Lord, and in love we just give ourselves to You to be one with You in Your serving today! We are Your continuation, the extension of Your days!
