being no longer “doing Christians” but rather “enjoying Christians”, those enjoying Christ as life!

being no longer "doing Christians" but rather "enjoying Christians", those enjoying Christ as life! [picture source: WarningSignsDirect.co.uk]The Lord Jesus did not come only as a King to “rule us outwardly” but He came as the bread of life for us to eat Him! God has no intention that man would “do things for Him” or work for Him – God wants man to enjoy God, eat God, and drink God!

This is the reason man was placed before the tree of life right after he was created. How much we need to have a change in concept from being “a doing Christian” – one whose main characteristic is that he does things for the Lord – to being “an enjoying Christian“, one who first and foremost enjoys the Lord by eating Him, drinking Him, and taking Him in.

The Lord doesn’t want us to consider WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) so as to imitate or try to do what Jesus would do; neither does the Lord want that we would ponder on how to serve the Lord and do things for Him that we may glorify Him. This is a natural concept – and it is as far from God’s concept as the heavens are from the earth!

God desires us to enjoy Him, eat Him, and drink Him, so that we may also live because of Him (John 6:57). God came to us in the Lord Jesus and presented Himself to us as life (John 1:4), as the bread of life (John 6:35), as the water of life (John 4:14), and as the breath of life (John 20:22).

God in Christ is our life, our food, our drink, and our air – He is everything for us to enjoy! He meets all our needs, and He doesn’t want us to primarily DO THINGS for Him but rather first Enjoy Christ as our life, as the water of life, the bread of life, and breathe Him in as the air of life!

Day by day the Lord presents Himself to us as our life – He made Himself so available by being even the life-giving Spirit, the life-giving air which we can now breathe in! All we need to do today is to open our whole being to Him and allow Him to come in, flow in, and saturate us.

We need to open ourselves not in a superficial way or an outward way, but in a deep way – open our mind and our heart, and open our spirit! When we open, the Lord as the available life-giving breath, bread, and water, will come into us and we will enjoy Him!

Even in John 4 where the Lord speaks about “the real worship” to the Father, which God desires to have… the context of this chapter shows us that the true worship that the Father desires is that man would drink of Him as the living waters!

The real meaning of worshipping God is drinking Him as the living water – when we drink the Lord as the living water, we offer Him the real worship! The drinking of the living water in v. 14 is the worshipping in v. 24.

The best way we can worship God and the only way He wants us to worship Him is by us drinking of Christ as the living water. When we open our whole being to Him, when we turn to our spirit, we will sense the Lord’s presence within and we are filled with Him!

We just open – and we enjoy Him as the food (the bread of life), the drink (the water of life), and the air (the breath of life) for us to live Christ and live in Christ. Praise the Lord – we can be enjoying Christians!

[sharing inspired from the Tree of Life (by brother Witness Lee), as quoted in the Morning Revival on the Crucial Elements of the Bible; become a fan on Facebook for more updates. Intro: being rather Enjoyers than Doers! ]

Lord, save us from being “doing Christians” into being “enjoying Christians”! May we enjoy You first rather than try to do something for You first. Thank You Lord for being the water of life, the bread of life, and the breath of life. You are our real food, our real drink, and even the air that we breathe! We just want to open our whole being to You, dear Lord, that You may come in. Grant us to really open to You – to give You a free way to constitute us with Yourself! We love You, Lord!
