although we have been positioned to drink of the Spirit, we need to be thirsty for God to drink of Him!

Many times we think that God wants some super-hard-and-complicated things from us to do for Him, and so we feel really powerless…. even to “express God in all that He is” – by and in ourselves – seems so impossible and unattainable!

Yet God’s way to accomplish His purpose of having an expression on the earth through us, His Body, is so simple: we just need to eat and drink Christ, be supplied with this processed and consummated Triune God, and what comes out of us will be His very expression!

It’s not by our striving, not by our struggling, but it’s by our continual feeding on the Lord that He can accomplish His purpose in us AND we are happy(as He is happy in us)! It all starts with the positioning, as 1 Cor. 12:13 says,

For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and were all given to drink one Spirit.

“Once far from God and dead in sin – no light my eyes could see!” – but now God has now brought us near to Himself through the death of His Son. Now after we’re baptized into Him we are being positioned to drink of Him as the Spirit, drink God as the living water!

Hallelujah, we have been brought back to God, we have returned to Him, that we may continually drink Him as the living water! This is so important – now we are in another realm, with another taste and another thirst. We now are placed in front of the spring of life, the flowing river of water of life, that we may drink!

We need to be thirsty for God to drink of Him!

Yet, even though we have been positioned to drink, we shall not drink unless we are thirsty. Just as in the human realm, where we drink only when we’re thirsty, so in the spiritual realm: we drink when we have a thirst in us.

Previously, we thirsted for so many other things, people, places, relationships, etc. But now that our taste has changed and we have tasted God, there is an increasing thirst in us every day for God. When we’re not thirsty for God for a while, we need to be on the alert: it is not normal!

If we don’t pray or call on the name of the Lord for a certain period of time, or if we don’t contact the Lord for one whole day, then we need to be concerned…. We actually need to come to the Lord and ask Him to give us a thirst for Him. Lord, replace our thirst for any other thing with a real true genuine thirst for You!

It is the Lord’s mercy that we are thirsty for Him. So many millions of Christians have no desire for God, no thirst for Him. But as we enjoy the Lord, as we taste and see that the Lord is good, we have a taste for Him and a thirst for Him. This thirst in us causes us to pray and contact the Lord.

As we go through the day, there’s something in us that gives us the deep consciousness that though we HAVE to do all these outward things, inwardly we actually are thirsty for God and we want to drink Him as the living water more! Many of us can testify this – that during the day we are conscious of this thirst within us. Spontaneously, during the day, we tell the Lord,

Lord Jesus, I am so thirsty for You, and I want to just touch You and contact You! And if we sense that our thirst is inadequate, that we don’t desire the Lord enough, we can tell the Lord, Lord, increase this thirst within me. Cause me to thirst after You more. Lord, why am not thirsty enough for You?
